Dear List Members, For the past several months I have been busy tracking the Old Settlers on the 1860 Stone Co Census. As you know, I have tried every trick in the book , including the famous" Ancestor Auctions", to locate descendants of those who appeared on Stone County's first census. What I didn't tell you was.... that the results will soon be published in a book titled " The Old Settlers Of Stone County, A Study of the 1860 Census. Now that the book is nearing completion, I thought I would check ONE LAST TIME to see if any of you had an ancestor that should be included in the Old Settlers Census . Last minute additions and corrections are being made at this time. As soon as these are complete, the book will be sent to the printers! A few of the missing families are: Slaughter, Wilcon, Crenshaw, Gibbins, Staten, Whited, Webb, Trammel, Shumate, Stansberry. and many others who apparently moved away.
