Have you ever tried - I never remember which one it is - Ancestry.com or Family Tree Maker.com, but they have a census dbase. Some of it is limited & yes, it is a paid subscription - about $60. per year? I almost think they are linked to the same dbase. Anyhow, I've used it lots to locate tentative lost rellies. It won't pop up the whole census info, but if I type in a name, it will show matches & I can research likely suspects as it shows state & county for each specific name. It's saved me many hours of library searching.
