HI, IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO COULD DO A LOOKUP FOR CARROLL COUNTY ARK, 1850 CENSUS, HICKORY TWNSHP? #809 FAMILY OF DAVID K. SHEPHERD. ANY HELP APPRECIATED. TRACY
Tracy, I'm still tracing the White family and I find them on the 1850 Carroll County census in the Bear Creek Township. 216 White Charlie 56 farmer Ten Anna 45 Ten Andrew 18 farmer Ill. James 17 farmer Ill. Thomas 13 Mo Nancy A 2 2 Ten Mahala 11 Mo Francis M 8 Mo John 5 Ark Artamissa 2 Ark Mauda M 5 Mo. I believe the John on this census is John R. White, Melvin's grandpa. Apparently the White family came from Tenn. and lived in Illinoise and Missouri for a while before moving to Bear Creek Township just north of present day Harrison Ark. Here they stayed. I find them on the 1850, 1860, and 1870 federal census at Bear Creek Township. I don't know where they went after 1870. Still searching.
