Hi Pama. It is me trying to find Lucinda. And I know where she was in 1950. It is 1840 that I need to know, also to verify when and where she died and where she is buried. If you run across any of that, let me know. okay? Lucinda (maiden name unknown) is the gggrandmother of my husband, Dale Taylor. Dale's father was Robert Taylor; grandfather, Jordan R. Taylor; ggrandfather, Jordan F. Taylor, and gggrandfather was John Taylor, married to Lucinda. Thanks again Pama. Diane Biggar-Taylor > I ought to have my hands slapped. Hi Taylor cousins, Since reading this request I have been going through my 'pileing system' seeking this this info. Actually found it in a file!! This area is the Crow Creek Valley that runs north from Stevenson Alabama to the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee, a distance of 20-30 miles. Several Stone Co families were here from the 1820's to the 50's. Edwards ,Taylors, and Summers families are here on both sides of the state line . The counties are Jackson Co Alabama, most all records prior to 1865 destroyed, and Franklin Co Tennessee, records have survived. However it was very difficult for the Tennessee residents of the Crow Creek Valley to make the steep ascent up the Cumberland plateau to the county seat at Winchester and much of their business was conducted in Alabama. There was a severe drought in the mid 1840's which allowed cholera to be spread by the creek, the communities water supply. After many deaths the survivors were ready to move on. 1840 Jackson Co Alabama males females-same pattern 0 0 0 0 0 0 0000 0 0 0 0-5 5-10 10-15 15-20 20-30 30-40 etc--- William Edwards 0111 0001-0000 1101 (father of John Edwards b.1812 Ky) Francis Taylor 1010 0100-1110 0100 Samuel Taylor 0010 100010-0020 10010 (father of Bethany Taylor Edwards, wife of John, b 1811Ky) John Taylor 1112 01-1010 01 (John and Lucinda -- ) 1850 Taney Co These research notes are from Ruth Asher and Mildred Roden. Her father was an early settler of Franklin Co Tn There is much sorting out to do here but if the Taylor researchers will look at these 4 counties (Franklin Co Tn, Jackson Co Al, Taney Co Mo-1850, and Stone Co Mo 1860--) you may untangle them or go mad trying. Rich Edwards PS--I have no 'proof' that William Edwards and Samuel Taylor are the respective parents of John and Bethany Taylor Edwards (Bethany Taylor's maiden name is from the death certificate of her youngest son Francis Marion Edwards) What I do have is this; John and Bethany's son Samuel married Mary 'Polly' Dotson in Stone Co in 1856. They named a son John Thomas Edwards. John for Samuel's father and Thomas for Polly's father, Thomas Dotson. They named their next son William Samuel Edwards. I feel he was named for Samuel's grandfathers. William Edwards and Samuel Taylor, the two men who show up on the 1840 Jackson Co Al census.
