To all who replied to my query as to the "Jim Wilson" Cemetery, I had already checked every cemetery on the Stone Co. GenWeb before I posted this message. Had even checked my Lost Graves CD. I am sure that not every cemetery in Stone Co is listed and transcribed on the site, and thought maybe someone would know where this particular cemetery might be. Thanks anyway! Maybe it's there, or maybe it's one of the cemeteries that was removed (to Philabert, I think) when Table Rock Lake went in. Wilma, I have noticed "new names" for cemeteries on those death certificates. I drove myself crazy looking for "Butler Cemetery" only to find out that it was Blue Eye Cemetery. I guess there was a short time period where the cemetery went by a different name. Maybe this is what happened to yours. Wilma I recognize the family you are referring to. The death certificate is for Mary Ellen (aka Ellender) Matney Edwards. She was married to (Francis) Marion Edwards, 1848 to 1937. (He is the youngest brother of my G G Grandfather Samuel Edwards 1833-1910.) The cemetery is on the Stone Co site as the Meade Cemetery. They are listed under 'Meade Additional Listings' MEAD CEMETERY Located on DD Highway, 2 miles from #13 Highway 1999 listings submitted by Brian Shay NAME BIRTH DEATH Edwards, Clabe no dates Edwards, Marion no dates Fleming, J.C. 1852 1938 Walker, Leighton C 19 Jan 1867 24 Feb 1940 Baby Florence 22 Feb 1915 2 Mar 1915 (no last name) 1 stone broken to ruble 2 possible graves marked by stone piles in the brushline Mary Ellen's 'Ella' Edwards is marked by the stone broken to rubble. How do I know? Researching my auxilliary families about 10 years ago I found a bill of sale for property owned by Andrew Edwards, older son of Marion and Ellen Edwards. A one acre cemetery on the property was set aside. I went looking for the cemetery and found it. I looked at the stones looking for some of my Edwards. There was a well maintained section near the gate and the rest of the area was overgrown with mature forest. A path led into the woods, I followed and came to a small clearing, left of path and along south fence of cemetery, weeds there recently killed, two recent markers of concrete about the size of a shoebox. One inscribed Marion Edwards, the other Clabe Edwards. Between them was a crumbling concrete marker, no name remaining, holding remnants of large mussel shells used as decorations. A lad at a house nearby told me that this was the Meade cemetery and the home I was visiting had been recently sold by Herman Meade. Herman was then living in Kimberling City. I called him and we met. Yes he knew the gravesites I had found. It was he who had killed the weeds and made the recent markers. As a teenager he had helped to dig the grave for Marion Edwards and he had known their son Clabe till his death in the 1950's. He did not want their graves to remain unmarked. Herman said that Marion was the kind of man who gave a kid a dime for candy in the midst of the Depression. This when a dime bought a big bag of candy. Herman had been the kid. A gathering of descendants of Marion and Ellen was held a few years ago. Herman was their honored guest and shared in their reminiscence. The marker reduced to rubble? That was where Mary Ellen was buried. She died in the '20s. Herman told me so and I think this was what Herman wanted to see passed on lest her last resting place be forgotten. -------------------------------------------------------- Census; Izear = Isaiah 1870 Stone Co 159 52 Flat Creek Matney Isaiah 47 In Farmer Martha 39 In Jacob 16 Mo Farm Lab Elizabeth 13 Mo William 12 Mo Isaiah 10 Mo John 7 Mo Sarah 4 Mo 160 53 Flat Creek Edwards Marion 21 Al Farm Lab Mary E 21 Mo Manda J 1 Mo --- Wilma Fields <wfields55@hotmail.com> wrote: > To all who replied to my query as to the "Jim Wilson" > Cemetery, > I had already checked every cemetery on the Stone Co. > GenWeb before I posted > this message. Thank you, Richard! This is what I wanted to know. With the story, you have answered the question. Now another. Is the Samuel that is your GG-grandfather, the one who gave the information for the death certificate and lived in Garfield, AR at the time? Was his wifes' name Jessie? I live not too far from Garfield, so that was of interest to me also. For those that may wonder about my interest in the Edwards family, There are several marriages of Edwards family into my husbands' family. One is Alice, is the daughter of Elisha/Elijah and Susannah Bolen Edwards. (Susannah is a sister of my Tranqulller Bolen Dummit, my husbands' GG-grandmother). This Alice may be the Alice Edwards that married John W. Stallions, brother to Sarah Ann Stallions that married Charles Edward Philibert, my husbands' GG-grandfather.
