    3. Pama, The story that I have been told is that John Langley went to California to look for gold. He wrote home that he had a strike and the family never heard from him again. It is told that Luvisa thought he had been killed by claimjumpers. So if their son was born in 1847 in Green Co. Mo he would have been aroung for the 1840 census but not necessarily for the 1850 census. I'm not sure exactly when they went to Stone Co. If he never came back, I guess the paper trail on him had ended. I don't have any record of a Proctor Langley but that doesn't mean that there isn't a connection. Thanks for all your help!
