    3. I don't know much about auctions so do I bid for further information on Polly Cloud Mills? Had no idea she was a sister to Calvin Cloud who lived in the Ponce area, where is she buried, do you know? Calvin was an ancestor of my husband so am interested. Thank you.

    3. Hello Elba, I reviewed my notes last night, seeking the reason I believed that Calvin and Polly were siblings, hoping I was not just making a wild guess. I found one of those wild coincidences that I'm sure we've all shared. In '94 I visited the library in Galena and found the Cloud Family notebook. In it is a family group sheet for Joseph Cloud and Jane Carpenter, listing the children as Benjamin b 1806, Malinda m James Mitchell d1892 Christian Co Mo, William Henry b 1813, Claiborne Co Tn m. Mary Jane Lakin Greenberry Burl Calvin b 1821 Claiborn Co Tn d Oct 11 1862, m Mary Jane Nail female m John Devault James M female m Joseph Mills female m John Bernard Sources Philip Cloud, Hazel Messenger, 1850 census Claiborne Co Tn and 1860 (Stone Co) census Compiler Elba Johnson ( so in a way, you are the source of my information :-) You needed a few more pieces of the puzzel to see the whole picture. When I moved to Asheville NC in '92 I found a query looking for any information concerning Joel Mills from Ardith Bailey of Iowa. Although the query was 10 years old I found her at her listed address (I have not heard from her in several years since.) She had researched the Mills for many years and was very familiar with the group in Christian Co, Hancock Co Tn and those who went to Kansas/Tx.. It was she who sent me the data that Polly Cloud was Joel's wife. It came from the family papers of the Kansas Mills and was published in 'One American Family' by Catherine Bernard Brown, Larkspur Ca 1964. In it is the statement 'Joel married Polly Cloud (of Quaker background) 7/8/1827.' So I saw in your list 'female m Joseph Cloud' and (correctly I hope) assumed that was my Polly who married Joel Mills. This assumption was bolstered by the association of Marvel Mills, son of Polly , next to Calvin in 1860 Stone Co. As to where Polly is buried I would assume in a family plot in Hancock Co Tn, probably next to Joel. I do not know it's exact location. Polly died the summer of 1847, Joel was bushwhacked 1867 and the rest of his family moved to Kansas at that time. I tried to connect with you by phone way back then. Thanks to the internet and our shared interests it has finally happened. I will send you copies of Ardith's material if you want.
