He married Susan TAYLOR on February 13, 1839 in Barry Co., MO and they had the following children: Mary A. Short, b 1842 in TN; Elizabeth Short, b November 18, 1844, MO; Mariah Short, b 1847, MO, Elena Short, b 1851, MO; Lucinda Short, b September 30, 1853, MO; James Short, b 1856; Martha Short, b 1856, Mo; and William E. Short, b 1859, MO. He married second wife Matilda Malinda LAWSON November 12, 1863 in Stone Co., MO and had the following son: James F. Short, b September 19,1861 in MO. The 64 thousand dollar question: who were the parents and siblings of both Jonah and Susan TAYLOR? Susan was b 1819 in IL. and d before 1863 in MO.
