Goldie, Did you get a hold of Damarus about the Bowlings? She was excited to be hearing from you and Dan. She said that years ago, she may have met Dan at one of the Bowling Reunions since there were some there from Idaho. Toni
Goldie and Toni: Did you know there was an important Stone Cy. person in history named Bowling Baker? Wonder if there is some "family" name connection? Hi Jim, Quite often I have seen where a last name (such as the mothers maiden name, or a grandparents last name) had been used for a kids first name. I found some Bakers in my data, but not on that side of the family. No Bowling Bakers. But I don't have everything. The more time goes by, the more I realize how much I DON'T have. But, thanks for the information. I will keep that in mind when searching. Goldie: Bowling Baker appears in the old county documents in the basements of Galena. I liked the name and used it in my book as follows: Bobby Baker was a Northern captain in the Civil War. His father was Bowling Baker. He was one of the men hung by the Bush Whackers when they invaded Galena immediately after the Civil War, seeking loot and plunder. Bowling is only incidental to the tale, but Bobby Baker plays a major (if a bit fictional) role. The novel is about true events and real people. It's just that I'm not sure these real people performed in those real events, but somebody did, so I've chosen those who well might have. The novel is in professionally bound manuscript form and is only available in print in the Kimberling Library at present. I have it in digital format on my computer. Bowling Baker is reputed to be a descendant of the infamous Bakers of early VA, NC, and KY who then migrated to Jefferson Cty TN. The name was a family name so legend says, because of an ancestress named Mary Molly Bowling/Bolling. Tons of info on this family in Jefferson TN. Operated an iron forge there before moving to MO. Many many kin of this family named Bowling/Bolling/Boling This is one of the possible families of my Great Great Grandmother Elvina Baker Stephens Shannon Butler Ventuleth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barrett" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2005 7:31 PM Subject: Re: [MOSTONE-L] Quiet > Goldie and Toni: Did you know there was an important Stone Cy. person in > history named Bowling Baker?
