The Shepard Room was previously located in the Springfield Greene Co Main Library, smack dab in the middle of down-town Springfield. Last fall, they relocated to a newer, bigger ( MUCH!) facility on the extreme South side of Springfield, on South Campbell Avenue. The new building houses complete library, history/research center with seperate microfilm room, more room between aisles, as well as research tables. Internet-ready computers, deli/cafe ( no more leaving your research for lunch!!!) magazine reading room, children's play area, and gift shop. Apparently there is no other library in the country completely like it. From what I understand, they took the best of several libraries accross the country, and combined them into this one. The Greene Co Hist. Soc. still has its own library//research facility, in the same location, if you had ever been/written to it before. Not for sure exactly what the web address is for the new Spf Library, but the Greene Co MOGenWeb page has links to it. If not, let me know and I will dig it up for you. Jim Cochran Nixeee MO.
