I read the same thing many years ago, it reminded me of the tyrants of other countries, I beleive as soon as Jackson gave the okay to round up the indians whites could come even by gunpoint and demand that the family effected had to leave with what they had on or could carry. I am sure most whites didn't do this, but enough did. These Cherokees were really well off and it must have been awful for them to see the hard work put into the farms , homes, possesions to just be taken. Bonnie in CA.
