    3. >The field across the lake belongs to Kanakuk/Kanakomo, I THINK. I know >you've seen it. Long, narrow, but a wonderful spot for what it got used >for. I think there's cattle in it now, but I wouldn't bet me on that. Yeah, there's cattle there -- they'll come to the water for a drink or to wade in, when it's hot. The area off the north side, just east of Boston Ridge, fishermen have always referred to as "the cornfield". Some of the best trout fishing on the lake is right around there, where there's a steep drop-off to the main channel (the 1912 channel of White River). I can remember when I was a kid, listening to old-timers who predated Powersite Dam, talking about setting trotlines across the river in the same place. The big political hassle now, of course, is regulating the lake and current coming from Table Rock Dam. The slowing of movement of water out of Table Rock during the summer could spell the death sentence to trout fishing in Taneycomo, if it is not corrected. Many resort owners have complained to the state, with little success. Of course, all the "money" is at Table Rock.
