I think they are talking about Alf Bolin, the bushwhacker and his notorious gang. I doubt he could be found in any census (except perhaps as a child). The Clouds took him in, but he killed Calvin Cloud and my ancestor too (Absalom Rhodes). Alf was eventually caught and hung, I believe. There's 2 stories on him in the Stone Co. Hist. Vol I.
