FYI - In 2002 or 3 (my mind slips) my great uncle Toby died, his name is Olen McCullough, buried McCullough Cemetery. Keeping in mind buried 2002, his tombstone says "To Be" McCulloughI persoanally was appalled, however the relatives that paid for it, said Tobe wouldn't mind he didn't like reading and writing. I tried to find at least 3 people from each year, but it always wasn't possible. It appears that many death certificates were not filed, yet we have bodies in the cemetery (I realize during the WWI period that the men may have died somewhere else and were brought back to the Blue Eye area, but this doesn't account for all the women). Nevertheless, a patterned appeared. (DC = Death Certificate; Cem = Cemetery) 1910: Theadore Elizabeth Butler died and the DC says she was buried in Blue Eye Cem. Hello MOSTONERS, There are some new photos in the album of some of the Butler family. We are grateful to Shannon Ventuleth for sharing them with us. The direct URL's are: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/photo/butler1.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/photo/butler2.htm Jo
OK, I think I figured it out. Blue Eye Cemetery must have been called Butler Cemetery in the 1920's (at least). I've seen about 10 death certificates, all endorsed by undertakers in Blue Eye, MO list burial in Butler Cemetery. So I looked them all up and they are all in Blue Eye Cemetery. I checked the history books and it does not list the history of the name of the cemetery. I know the first burial in 1856 was for a Rhodes girl (part of my family, even though the parents are buried in Rhodes cemetery). Does anyone have a history of the name of the Blue Eye cemetery? I'll keep on digging. Also when more death certif. come online, I'll track them and see how long they keep calling it Butler Cemetery. My mother (born in 1933 on the stateline road next to the Baptist church) only knew it as the Blue Eye Cemetery. Cheri
I have the transcription book for the Butler Cemetery in Lawrence county. It was transcribed in 1969. At that time there were 9 legible stones, although there were about 40 graves. I find no Bowmans or Hembrees listed although some stones had dates into the 1920s. There were Hembrees in the Marionville Cemetery, though - so Hembrees had spread into Lawrence County. I seached the Lawrence Co, MO website, but they don't have a grave-by-grave listing for Butler Cemetery. Rats. I'm looking at a Hembree and a Bowman that were buried in this Butler Cemetery. It seems odd that these men being no relation to Butler would be transported to a Butler Cemetery in another county. Could this be one of the displaced cemeteries when Table Rock Lake was formed? Sorry, this is Stone Co, and burial in Butler Cemetery. Undertaker was Youngblood from Blue Eye (Stone Co), MO. I've found 2 deaths now that list Butler Cemetery. Different undertaker, but he operates out of Blue Eye (Stone Co). And they list MO, not AR. I'm having lots of fun with the new MO State death index. I found one record which must be a collateral line of mine. It was a death in 1921 and says the body was buried in "Butler Cemetery." I know the Butler family was very prominent in Stone Co (at least in the southern end of the county). So I went to the Stone County web page and I could not find it. Where is the Butler Cemetery? Thanks, Cheri Mello
They went to Colorado on vacation, they will probably not be back until this fall, I believe they took a job running a regular vacation park, in the Colorado Mtns. Ray

Does any one know if Caldwell Co genealogical society is back up and running. Last summer I submitted a request with a donation and even talked to the lady there.
