Don't know if this would help or not but Francis Marion Gideon father of Rufus Asbury Gideon is buried in Galena cem north (old) section. Rufus married Clarissa Bell Davis in 1880 daughter of Martha Priestley Davis. Martha was daughter of Samuel Priestley and Isabelle Hazelett. Martha Priestley Davis was born 1821 Rockbridge VA. She may not have a headstone and that's why you can't find her in online listings. Think I'd try searching in Christian co also as that is where Rufus comes from. Might try searching for Rufus and Clarissa's sons Frank M and Elmer. Clarissa died in 1928 but don't have death date for Rufus. My connection to the Gideon family is my gg.gma Elizabeth Wilhite Atterberry Hodges Hooton had a brother named Lorenzo Dow Wilhite and he married Mary Jane Gideon, sister to Francis Marion Gideon and Rufus's aunt. My ancestors are mostly from Stone and Christian co MO. I'll let you know if I find your Martha. Regards. Hello, Here is the Brown County,Texas website for those that may have Anderson relatives there. http://www.historictexas.net/brown/c/books-lookups.htm This would be the family of William M.Anderson. There are also Byrds from Mo also in this area. Many Mo.folks at one time. There is also a Gentry cemetery in Brown County,Texas. Glynda

Hello MOSTONERS, There are eleven new Mystery photographs ! Hope someone can identify some of them for us. They are listed in the index on the Mystery Photo section under the heading McCullough Family Photos. The URL to the index is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/mystpics/pg1.htm Some of the family names they might be connected to are: Moser - Brock - McCullough - Bolin - Sparks - Ellis - Allen - Kincade. We are grateful to Debi Waterman for sharing them with us. Jo
I would like to have some help in regard to my Anderson Family from MO. My gr. gr. grandmother was Martha Ellen Anderson, Massey, Moore, Gentry. I have been researching the family for many years and know in my heart that the Anderson family from Brown County, Texas is also my gr. gr.gr. Grandfather Samuel Anderson's. Noble Anderson being his father and William M. being his brother. I have gone over census and used research from my other families in Stone County. The Meeks, Gentry's, Anderson etc. I also have researched the census records and history of William T. Anderson know as "Bloody Bill Anderson" from Mo. and Kansas. I have come to the conclusion that there was only one "Bloody Bill Anderson" of the Quantrill Raiders and he died in MO. in 1864 and is buried there. His parents were William C. Anderson and Martha Thomason (1860 census of Agnes City, Kansas) again I find the family in MO. Randolph County, MO (1850 census). This family had three daughters, one being Josephine who was killed during the Civil War. I am sure most folks have heard this story and have read this history. Now this is what I need to know: Has any Anderson male from this family of Noble Anderson and William M. and Jane Scruggs Anderson had their DNA tested as to the male line for the Family. There is a claim in Brown County, Texas that William C. Anderson, son of William M. was the "Bloody Bill Anderson" and Josephine was his sister. There is talk about exhumation to prove this relationship. I do not feel that exhumation is necessary as long as there can be an Anderson male from the family of William M. Anderson from MO. to match with an Anderson's who lived in Brown County, Texas. The main problem that I see has happened over the years is the mix-up of two different Families that had similar names and near the same age. There is a possibility that both families may have been related at one time in history. This is what the DNA test will show. Another question: Does any one know of a Thomason connection to the Stone County Anderson and Brown County Anderson's. I believe in the old traditional History about "Bloody Bill Anderson" and hope that it will not come to exhumation in order to get to the truth of this Legend, I will be more then happy to answer any ones questions about this matter. My roots grow deep in Stone County,MO. and I am proud of my Family! I do not have a male Anderson to count as My Samuel Anderson and Betsy McKensie had seven daughter and not on son. I don't know if I have heard that story or not. Where could I find it? I connect to Bill Anderson through my Gr Gr Grandfather Bill Manning. When William Cox told his story of the murder of his father (John Cox), my Bill Manning was called Bill Anderson by him. But Anderson was there too. Just got the Bill's mixed up. I would like to hear the story. Or History. Thank you very much Ellie of Warsaw Missouri, Benton County. -------Original Message------- From: NormGlynda@aol.com Date: 07/14/06 10:44:17 To: MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Norton AntiSpam] [MOSTONE-L] Re: MOSTONE-D Digest V06 #57 Anderson DNA I would like to have some help in regard to my Anderson Family from MO. I know what you mean about the tattoo thing. When my father died, his wife (not my mother)listed his parents as "UNKNOWN" I was livid especially since she had met my dad's father! I had to take paperwork to the health department and filled out an affidavit to add additional pages to his death record to state who his parents were. The Stone Co. Historical Society would have all the information you would need on the Cemetery. I think so at least.
Butler Cemetery was (as far as I know) the original name , and now it has been changed to "Blue Eye Memorial Cemetery" in Blue Eye, MO.
