The mention of blindness piqued my interest. My gggmother, Maggie Underwood Frieze was blind. She lived from 1859 to 1899. I do have a sort of a photograph of her, it looks like it's been enhanced by an artist, but it is on cardboard, fragile, and too large to scan anyway. She is younger in my photograph and not blind (yet,) but her eyebrows and ears appear to be similarly shaped in both photographs. Also, a companion "photo" of W.T. has a similar look to the eyebrows, though my pic has him with a moustache, not a full beard. I guess it might be time to carry them to Kinko's and see if I can get them put on disc. Do you have any other facts or speculations about the photo beyond what was in the post? The related names you listed were not ones I've run across in my research on my family. Janet Southall
Janet, Just a suggestion on your photos. I have pictures of my Grandparents made the same way. Take a digital photo of each, that way you can send copies to whom ever you want, and at the same time you can put the digital pictures on CDs. My pictures are 90-91 years old at the present time, and are in gold leaf oval frames, with bubble glass, which have been appraised at approximately 110 years old. These were given to my parents as a wedding present and the passed down to me when I married. I am giving them to my 1st Granddaughter when she marries. I know how precious yours are to you. Hello MO Stoners, this list (my favorite) seems to be on fire, so, I thought I'd join in the fray. What sparked my interest in posting was the mention of the name "Elizabeth Langley". I am also looking for information on an "Elizabeth Langley" but not the one mentioned here earlier. The Elizabeth Langley I'm researching was born May 18, 1818 in McMinn Co., Tennessee and died January 16, 1901 in Buffalo, Dallas Co., Missouri. Elizabeth Langley married Silas Lazarus Morton December 12, 1832 in Medifork, McMinn Co., Tennessee. Silas was born January 1, 1808 in Blount Co., Tennessee and died September 16, 1862 in Polk Co., Missouri. Silas & Elizabeth had eleven children that eventually settled all over southwest Missouri in Polk, Greene, Christian, Barry, Dallas & Stone counties. Some of the families that the children married into were Maples, Roe, Edmond, Jones, Mustain, Dykes, Pope, Adams & others. What does all of this have to do specificlly with Stone Co., Missouri? I have, in my data, a John C. Langley, born abt. 1810 in McMinn Co., Tennessee, who married Luvisa Proctor June 14, 1831 in Roane Co., Tennessee. John & Luvisa moved from Tennessee to Polk Co., Missouri abt 1835 and eventually to Stone Co., Missouri where Luvisa died September 3, 1893 and was buried in the Anderson Cemetery, three miles south of Hurley, Stone Co., Missouri. John & Luvisa had eight known children that married into the families of Hodges, Eaton, Lewis & others. I would like to know "if & how" the above mentioned Elizabeth Langley and John C. Langley are related - are there any Langley family researchers out there who know anything about the earlier Langleys from Tennessee? Thanks in advance for anything anybody can offer, Jerry Proctor of Colorado Springs researching many families from s/w Missouri & s/e Kansas

Elizabeth B Langley Pioneer Enterprises Genealogical Services Rt 1 Billings, Missouri E. B. Langley County Historian & Genea. THE OZARK QUARTERLEY RT 1 Billings MO.6561 I am having fun re reading this information she put out. I am trying to remember who she sold to when her father became ill and she had to care for him. seems to me it was Everton and wife. don't quote me on that yet still looking. If this is so, a lot of the information from Everton came from Elizabeth B Langley. If that is so they were free to do so, they bought it. (this was in the 1970's) By re reading EBL's information I think she has told me in her way that I will not find the burial place of Clemuel Davis, Or the Manning family that died in the 1860 and 1861. Her report hear clears up two things that have been giving me trouble. Here is what she wrote; The Railey Creek graveyard (now completely gone and is now a barn lot) it was a early burial place for Galena. One of the first men to be buried there was Gip Bowman who was killed by the bushwhackers. Bowman was quite a local celebrity who killed this panther with his bare fists. Two panthers were on a log once when Bowman came upon them unexpectedly, he killed one with his rifle and shot the other but failed to kill him. When the panther sprang at him, he knocked it out with his fist. After he was buried in Railey Creek Graveyard, other people that were killed during the war were brought there for burial. I have made a error on the men that killed Clem, Cox, & others I have many list here, some owed money to Clem, some that Clem owed and then the list of men killed in Galena by bushwhackers, then the list of men killed by Sam Davis. I had Gip on the list that killed Clem, he is now where he belong's, on the list killed by bushwhackers. Ellie
