Ok, all you Stone County experts--I need some help! I have in hand a Death Certificate for Ella Edwards, daughter of Izear Matney and Martha Harmon, died Sept 6, 1923. Her burial location is listed as Jim Wilson Cemetery. There is none by that name on the Stone Co. GenWeb site, so I am hoping someone can tell me if this cemetery may have been moved into another one, and if so which one, or if the name has been changed to something else.' The Undertaker is listed as Geo. Holt, Reeds Spring, MO.
Jane now you got me to thinking , maybe Elizabeth McDaniel is related to my Samuel McDaniel Taylor . My Taylor's came by way of Kentucky to Alabama and or Tennesee . Some of Samuel and wife Mary Taylor nee Brinson's children were born in Pulaski , Kentucky same as there mother Mary. Rest were born Alabama or Tennesee. if memeory serves me right there was 10 of them all together. Some stayed in Alabama with Samuel and Mary while other's went to Stone CO., Mo. ROBERT WHERE ARE YOU YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT THE CARR'S THEN ME HELP US PLEASE.NANCY WAS HIS GRANDMOTHER I BELIEVE.I don't know where John Carr was born or when , but do no he was Nancy husband and he went to Indiana when Nancy came to Missouri with her sister. They alsso have a brother named mack Taylor , and his real name was Samuel McDaniel Taylor same as his father. Back in those days they named there children after family , and I have yet to find out for sure what Samuels mother's name is or his father's name. Shirley P.S. Joyce, The descendents of Yelveston "Yelly" Bolen/Bolin & Lucy Saunders, originally from Giles Co. TN. My husbands' GG-grandmother was one of the twins, Tranquiller Bolen Dummit. They settled ultimately, pretty much around Kings Prairie, Barry Co MO. after leaving Stone Co. Her brother, Lorenzo Dow Bolen stayed in Stone Co., and maybe some of the others----don't remember off the top of my head at the moment. Well lets, see, daughters Elizabeth Bolen Peterson &Louisa Bolen Wells died in TX. Some of the children I don't have information on after the 1850 Giles Co. TN Census, but most of their 15 chidren came to MO, particularly Stone Co. Hi Robin, I thought I would through in something I just resonly found out. A cousin sent me a picture of Mary Ellen Pennington nee Taylor and a Dan Taylor , and for the life of me I could figure how Dan fit in the Taylor family well he wasn't a Taylor by birth he was a Pennigton , his name was Daniel Pennington , and when my great Taylor uncle married his mother , she already had him he was about 4 years old. So he was raised by my Uncle as well so he used his name alot. So sometimes you will find this in a family , if they had not told me I would still be looking for how he fit in the Taylor family. One less Taylor to look for lol lol . Shirley --- new_moon_rising@juno.com wrote: > Jean, > Thanks for sharing. Yes, all that is also on Old > Settlers. LOL. I'd just like to share with everyone what a small world we live in. I live in Phoenix, AZ and recently a woman I work with mentioned that she would like to visit Reeds Spring, Mo. Well my ears perked right up and I told her my father was born in Reeds Spring. She said so was mine! To make a long story short her grandmother was Vinnie Carr, daughter of Silas Addison Carr and Malinda Webster. My great grandfather was Henry Washington Carr, son of Silas Addison Carr and Anna Josephine Smith. That makes us half second cousins once removed. It might not sound like much but we were both thrilled since neither one of us has family here. I was able to fill her in on the Carr side of the family but I know very little about the Oswalts. Her father was S A Oswalt, son of John Nelson Oswalt, son of Henry Oswalt. Does anyone have any information on this family they would like to share? Janene
I always thought it was Valentine too, however, on his Civil War records, he signs with a Vol.. Ruth Asher always corrected me when I said Valentine. LOL. She was fanatical about his name being spelled and pronounced correctly. <giggle> Robin On Mon, 4 Sep 2006 15:21:44 -0700 (Pacific Daylight Time) "Wilma Fields" <wfields55@hotmail.com> writes: > You are correct as to the tombstone. Jean, Thanks for sharing. Yes, all that is also on Old Settlers. LOL. I put up every darn connection I had a few years ago. Looks like folks are finding it!! :} Margaret was my mother. Just can't find much on that line of Taylors for some reason. "Bill" died a couple of years ago and even he didn't have much info on his grandfather, William Sturge Taylor. One local researcher has been looking for years and hasn't come up with anything either! I have thought all these years that his name was Valentine, Thank you. Bonnie
You are correct as to the tombstone. It has Valentine. However, a tombstone can have mistakes as much as anything else. I have several that based on other supporting documents are wrong! I have a picture I will be glad to scan and send to anyone wanting one. E-mail me a wfields55@hotmail.com and put Taylor tombstone in the Subject. I have several photos from Cape Fair Cemetery I took back in July. For Debi and Others, Myrtle McCullough, born Aug 29, 1899, Baxter, Stone Co. MO, married John Riley Moore, born May 9, 1887, Baxter, Stone Co. Mo. on Oct. 7, 1907 in Viola, Stone Co. MO. John Riley Moore was the son of Williams Moore and Florence Ann Philibert. (I have their marriage record). Florence Ann was the daughter of Charles Edmund Philibert & Sarah Ann Stallions, my husbands' GG-grandparents, and a sister to hubbys' Great-grandparents, Delpha Jane (Jennie) Philibert, who married Francis Marion Taylor, the son of William Thomas Taylor & Anna Owens. So back we are to the Owens and Taylors again <grin> Is'nt this fun? Wilma

It is so amazing to me that we have so many surnames in common in the same counties, and can't seem to find a connection! However, here's some more for you to chew on. I have two McCulloughs that married into my families. First, is a Myrlte McCullough, born 1889 in Stone Co. who married John Riley Moore. John Riley was the son of one of my Philiberts. Second, is Frank F. McCullough, who married Sarah E. Dummit. Don't know anymore on either of these McCulloughs. We discussed the Dummit & Bolen family many times. The only William Taylor I have that is even close to the date you have ( of the ones I have dates for) is a William, b. abt 1850, TN, who was the son of a Henry & Narcissa Taylor in Maury Co. TN. Henry was a brother of Claiborn , who I believe is probably the father of my William Thomas Taylor that came from TN, married Anna Owens at Potosi, MO, before coming to Stone Co. MO. I do not know if this William even left TN, so have no clue on him at all. Seems most of Claiborn and family stayed in Maury Co. I think one other child went to TX.
