    3. I wonder if this would really help much Robin, even with a membership etc family site such as MYFAMILY which I also have for my family genealogy you really don't know who these people are that want to be invited into your site so how can you protect your information? I do miss the old records of Stone Co which you pulled though. I do pay dearly for access to Ancestry.com and hate having to pay for records that are public. Their transcriptions are not always correct and spellings are laughable plus putting wrong census in wrong county etc etc. Guess I believe genealogy should be free and everyone should share but guess that's not the real world today. The family site would be better for some that don't have access to census records anywhere else though. Best regards. Ellen PS what about doing a Stone Co roll call of what ancestors everyone is searching for at some point? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eleanor Prieskorn" <dalell@earthlink.net> To: <mostone@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2006 11:16 AM Subject: Re: [MOSTONE] 1930 Cenus > Robin that sounds good to me. > Do you know who is to take over yet? > But my vote should not count, I have ancestry.com > full search all census etc. (My Xmas gift from family) > Ellie > > -----Original Message----- > From: mostone-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mostone-bounces@rootsweb.com] > On > Behalf Of Carmon Burgess > Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2006 12:56 PM > To: mostone-l@rootsweb.com > Subject: [MOSTONE] 1930 Cenus > > Dear List, > > I may be able to put up the 1930 census back on Old Settlers, > however, it will be with a membership key only. 3. Dear List, I may be able to put up the 1930 census back on Old Settlers, however, it will be with a membership key only. Meaning, you will have to sign into the site like you do many sites on the web. I might also be able to put up more family histories by using a membership key. I feel this would benefit our MoStone Community yet keep out those who are out crusing the internet to make a buck off years of my hard work. This is an idea..and if enuff of you are interested, I will try this. Please let me know by a yea or nay. How it would work: The main old settlers site would be available as well as photos, etc. However, any family files or census records would be in a membership only area accessable with Your password. I would be moving the family files off the main page into a secure area, along with the census and obits. As I said, just an idea ! Let me know what you think. 1. [MOSTONE] FYI--Free source of Census' no longer on MoStone
    2. Richard Edwards
    3. I wanted to be sure that none of the MoStone researchers remained handicapped by lack of access to the census which were available until recently on the MoStone site. The missing census' for Stone Co, 1860, 1870, 1900, and 1910, are all available on HeritageQuest. They have a searchable index which will take you to an image of the census page. 1930 is also available but does not have an index so one must browse the census images. This is of course not just for Stone Co Mo but for all the US census. All census from 1790 to 1930 are there. 1830,1840, 1850 and 1930 have no index but are browseable since the actual census images of those years are available. HeritageQuest is accessable through libraries which subscribe to the service. My library in Asheville and the library in the county next to me have it. I called the library in Springfield Mo yesterday and they have it. To access through Springfield Mo one must have a library card (gained by library membership). You then go to the Springfield Library website, go through a couple of screens to the HeritageQuest site where you are prompted to enter your libraries name and your membership number. You then have access to the site. My library grants access through a state program called nclive from whose site one indicates your library and then one enters a code which is given to me by my library. HeritageQuest also has Rev War Pension files, images of thousands of books, and a search engine for indexed periodicals. So if you want to have this check with your library reference desk. A small town library may not have it but keep checking with larger and larger libraries till you find it, then become a member of that library and you can then access HeritageQuest and the Mostone missing census from your home computers

You have devoted many years to make Stone County one of the absolute best sites throughout the whole Genweb project. You took Stone County from it's infancy to reasonable maturity with your knowledge and caring. Whatever your next project, I know you will approach it with the same gracious attitude. 3. Jo, A few years ago, you posted pictures I sent to you. From those pictures I received contact from others related to the family. Another person was able to answer some questions I have worked on for many years, given my lack of talent and resources. These idividuals came because of your help. I thank all of them, and I thank you. Since that time I have tapped into other sites and I still consider yours the best. Although some of us may never realize all of what you have put into the site, believe me, you also don't realize how many ways you have helped many of us.
