Hi All, Mary Margaret Nickerson, Stone County Pioneer Midwife , died in 1938 during the depresion. www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/photo/vickers/vickers1.htm Unfortunately, times were tuff and Mary was buried without a tombstone. Mary's grave site was re-discovered as I was tracing my family and corresponding with my new found cousin Dawna Vickers. Dawna is a direct descendent of Mary Nickerson's son, William Albert Nickerson and I am a direct descendent of her daughter, America Francis (Nickerson) White. Together, Dawna and I decided that Mary needed a stone. Her new stone sits right next to her husband Joshua's stone, where she was buried all along, on property they homesteaded from the Bureau of Land Management in 1902. A small portion of this land, at the intersection of hwy 13 and 00, was deeded to Stone County and is now Nickerson Cemetery.
Dear List, I discovered my HOOD ancestors in Stone Co. Except for poking around on the Stone Co. webpage, I have no other info. I'll have to go to the FHC to see if I can find anything else out. It's a long-shot, but anyone researching these folks? HOOD, Alexander (1833-1882) (appears to be b. TN or SC) and his wife Rachel C. (1837-1909) (appears to be b. NC). They appear to be m. in AR. CHILDREN: (These b. in AR): Sarah Elizabeth (m. Benj. LOGAN) (1856- ) James M. (1858 - ) William A. (1859/60 -) (These b. in MO (apparently Stone Co)): Lafayette (1861 - ) Thessiann/Thursy A. (1863 - ) Jennie (1864 - ) Rachel L. V. (1868 - ) Ulyssess Grant (1869 - ) Samuel S. (1870 - ) Mary L. J. (1872 - ) Joe (1874 - 1950) Thomas F. (1876 - ) Rosa L. (1878 - ) Thank you. Cheri Mello
Since the topic has been on the Cloud family for a while I was just wondering if any of you know anything at all about this Cloud: Descendants of Thomas H. Cloud 1 Thomas H. Cloud b: Abt. 1880 . +Sarah Price b: Abt. 1882 ...... 2 James H. Cloud b: Abt. 1908 Sarah was the sister of my g-grandma Celia Price Turner. I don't know anything at all about Thomas' parents or brothers and sisters. If anyone can tell me about him I sure would be grateful. I just wanted thank to person who put the Cloud family info on the thisweb site a copule of weeks ago. This is a branch of my Cloud 's and it certainly filled in a lot of blank spots in my family tree. Thanks again, Mary Drake
Joy, I have a little on Greenberry and Elizabeth Mills Cloud but not much. I may duplicate what you already know so please be patient. Greenberry Cloud was a twin to William Perry, sons of Calvin and Mary Jane Nail Cloud, born 15 April 1845, Cass Townshp, Stone County, Missouri. I don't have his death date or where he was buried. He and Elizabeth married 6 Feb. 1868 in Stone County by J.H.Bledsoe, jp Sarah Elizabeth Mills was born 16 Nov. 1845 in Missouri. Died Dec. 25, 1921 at Ponce De Leon in Stone County. Green was supposedly her 2nd husband. The first being a Mr. White. I would think they were both buried at Ponce but don't have my copy of the cemetery records handy. You might want to check the records online. Children of Green and Elizabeth were: 1. Lenora 2. Laozina 3. Atlas born 4 May, 1875 at Ponce de Leon, Stone County married Ora Ellen Simmons 4. Austin 5. Ella born 28 March, 1881 at Ponce de Leon, Stone County, married William P. Baugh about 1900, she died 28 Oct. 1952 That is all I have at the moment, sorry it isn't more but do hope it helps.

Dear List, Thank you to all who have responded to my query. I will write in between the line breaks to clarify a few things. In a message dated 4/17/2000 11:48:15 AM Pacific Daylight Time, dittch-witch@worldnet.att.net writes: << I am interested in any of your names as they relateto Cloud family.>> None of my names relate to the CLOUD family. I listed all the names that were born or died in Stone Co. in my first post. I have followed the Cloud family a little bit. I found the information today that I was looking for (I actually filed it where it belonged!) The Stone Co. History, Vol 1, page 607 tells the story (submitted by Ronald Duncan) of Absalom Rhodes. It says he was killed on 15 Oct 1862 by bushwhackers. Somehow, while thumbing through the book (owned by my mom's cousin) I saw the article on page 264 titled "Alfred Bolin, Bushwhacker." It caught my attention so I read it. It mentions that Calvin Cloud was killed by bushwhackers on 11 Oct 1862. My HUNCH (and it is only a hunch, there is no way for me to prove it) is that it was Alf Bolin & his gang. I follow the CLOUD info just to see if they say he killed others within days of each other. Absalom lived directly north of the Blue Eye Cemetery, just a few hundred years, I guess. That is just a guess. I was there a couple of years ago and I didn't set the trip odometer to measure it exactly. I'm not sure where the CLOUD family lived in relation to that. I haven't researched it that far. (Note: Another article on Alf Bolin appears on page 272). <> All my Alf Bolin info (at this time) comes from the Stone Co. History Vol 1. The article on page 264 was submitted by Elba G. Johnson; the article on page 272 was submitted by Donna D. Wolf Riott. I don't know anything else. I think that these 2 know much more than I do. When I typed up that Alf was a step-son of Calvin Cloud, I was going off the top of my head. I couldn't find the pages at the time. I was going off my memory. I know that Mrs. Cloud was not the mother of Alf; therefore Calvin Cloud was not the step-father. Alf was a kid that that the Cloud family took in and that is all. I have no idea why I typed that statement the first time. I have apologized to all the people who have written to me in private to correct the error. So I will apologize to the whole list for saying Alf Bolin was the step-son of Calvin Cloud, because he was not. I hope this clarifies matters and no one is upset at me any longer for typing step-son. Sincerely, Cheri Mello
My records show Elizabeth Cloud married John DeVault but that is all I have on them. I do have that she was a daughter of Joseph and Jane (Carpenter) Cloud, therefore a sister to Calvin. Joy, I have a little info on Greenberry Cloud who married Elizabeth Mills White if you need it. Elba

Hi, I am interested in any of your names as they relateto Cloud family. I know that a DeVault male married a Cloud female. I printed a copy of the 1912 Brown's Spring School photo that Sam West provided a few days ago, and took it to my dad. Pop looked at the photo and, without a moment's hesitation, said, "the first little boy in the front row is your Granddad Jackson". Herman William Jackson, son of William A. and Minnie Lee Maples Jackson of Brown's Spring, would have been 9 years old when the photo was made. His grandmother, Mary Ann Gold Jackson Rapp, was a first cousin of Lorenzo Dow Gold.
