Thank you!! I have been unable to find Hope (Hopi) Duckworth. The only information I have is she married William Thomas Pearson 2-1889 in Stone Co. records. She may have had a brother named Alan or Allen Duckworth. I read once Alan, a business man died in Willard, Mo.,and his sister Hope Pearson lived in the Co. next to Willard called Farris. Thank you, Donna L. Conley conley@blueriver.net

    1. [MOSTONE-L] Wyatt and Lydia Bilyeu
    2. Resident of the Month Hilma A. Brumley was born December 27, 1902, 5 miles south of Ozark, MO. Her parents were Wyatt and Lydia (Boadtenhammer) Bilyeu. Her father worked in the lead mines and also was a farmer. Hilma had 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She attended Victory School until 8th grade. As a child, she had a horse named "Tony" that she loved very much. She has been a member of the Victory Baptist Church since the age of 6. On her birthday, December 27, 1919, Hilma and George Brumley were married at the McCracken Road home of the Justice of the Peace, named "Old Man Bobbs." George and Hilma had a farm at Christian County, near Bull Creek, where they raised cattle, hogs, and horses. They also had tomato and strawberry fields. The tomatoes were sold to the cannery and the strawberries were taken to market. George was a truck driver and had 2 trucks he used to transport cattle and hogs to market. Hilma and George had 2 children-Jerry Brumley and Betty Teague. There are 10 grandchildren, 20 ggrandchildren and 5 gggrandchildren. Even after George's death in 1981, Hilma continued to live on the farm. She moved to Ozark Nursing and Care in Ozark, MO> on May 6, 1998. Initially, she didn't want to live in a nursing home, but she made friends and enjoys being here. She has a smile and a friendly word for everyone. Hilma participates in all daily activities. When the pen pals come to visit from Ozark Junior High, they gather around her and she tells them stories. Hilma says the reasons she has lived this long is because of hard work, believing in God and going to church. Having a positive outlook, not talking ill of others and helping everyone who needs help are also good reasons for a long life. Hilma has a loving and supportive family who visit her often. This is the article from Prime Time News Magazine. There is a picture of Hilma, also. Thought everyone research the Bilyeu's, Brumley's and Boadenhammer would enjoy this. I know I did.

    3. Message text written by INTERNET:MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com >Will you go back to this site & cut/paste the URL from the browser window for all of us please< Okay, Here is the site for the Greene Co. library, cut and pasted not from my bookmarks but from the webpage itself. Sorrry, but cserve does not allow me do hyperlinks. http://thelibrary.springfield.missouri.org/ >From there you can access "Local History" which is http://198.209.8.166/sheproom/index.html and you can see the link for the Turnbo Manuscripts there. But scroll down past that, and click on local periodicals, which takes you to- http://198.209.8.166/sheproom/periodicals/index.htm and you can choose "Ozark Watch" , "Bittersweet", and "White River Valley Historical Quarterly". The WRVHQ is http://198.209.8.166/sheproom/periodicals/wrvq/index.htm then click on contents http://198.209.8.166/sheproom/periodicals/wrvq/wrvtoc.htm I don't understand why my link works, but it does. I accessed the above from the Greene Co. MO gen page, which has a link to the library. Even though the Shepard Room is not used anymore, and the new library is great, no one has updated the website to reflect that yet. The 1840 Taney Census is in Vol 1 No. 2 Winter 1961, which is the bottom link on the page. http://198.209.8.166/sheproom/periodicals/wrvq/V1/V1toc.htm Then Vol 1 no. 2 is http://198.209.8.166/sheproom/periodicals/wrvq/V1/N2/W61toc.htm My bookmark, which I cut and pasted yesterday gets me there. I don't think I will ever understand computers. It looks like I was missing a directory in my addy. Bizarre. I apologize for the headaches y'all had. Be prepared to spend hours. Vonda

    3. Vonda, Will you go back to this site & cut/paste the URL from the browser window for all of us please. I think these numbers are what the computers use to communicate each other not what the computer wants us humans to put in the browser window. It's not working for me either - I keep getting this message "access denied" maybe because I'm human & not a machine. And trying to search for this location has not turned up any appropriate web page - well - haven't made it thru all 32,000 of them, actually. ----- Original Message ----- From: Vonda Sheets <GWSVKW@compuserve.com> To: <MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 11, 2000 12:03 AM Subject: Re: [MOSTONE-L] Jones in 1840 Taney | Message text written by INTERNET:MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com | >Access denied | Bill Ray< | | Try | http://198.209.8.166/wrvq/ | which will take you to the main index. 1. [MOSTONE-L] More on JONES
    2. Mary Ann and other interested listers, I've been thinking and trying to digest all this stuff. I can find your Sarah Ellen (McELHANEY) JONES in the 1910 Stone Co. census (via the Stone Co. webpage). Where were they in 1900? Also, I was thinking about what you said about the folks you interviewed in Stone Co. on your research trip. They think "Uncle Ace" (aka Asa G. JONES) was related to you. Asa had a William R. as a brother. William R. that is Asa's brother is in the 1860 Stone Co. census that was taken on 3 July 1860. He is listed as being 4 years old (b.1856). In 1870 (11? 14? Jul) he was listed as being 15 years old (b. 1855). In 1880, he is living with his half-sister and her family (the HEMBREEs). That census was taken 22 June 1880 and he was 25 (b. 1855). You have your William R. being born Feb. 1858. How sure are you of this info? I'm thinking you got it off the 1900 Census. What does it list for the birthplace of the mother and father of your William? Does it say father b. NC and mom b. TN or MO? Asa's birthdate (6 Mar 1858) matches the tombstone record with the 1860, 1870, 1880, and 1900 census. It doesn't appear that he is in Stone Co. in 1910, but his wife Mary J. is, living with her YOUNGBLOOD cousin. Hmmm, interesting. Asa names his son James Riley. We need more detective work to figure out if your Wm. R is my Wm. R. I'm thinking maybe. Cheri Mello

    1. [MOSTONE-L] MATHES
    2. Dear List, Someone asked me if I knew the parents of Nancy Paril(l)a/Paralee MATHES who m. Hezekiah JONES on 16 Jun 1854 in Stone Co. I looked through my notes and I can't find anything. I see there was a Nancy MATHES who was a sister to Judge W.G. MATHES who is listed in the "Remin. History...Ozarks..." book on page 333. Judge W.G.'s parents were David & Elizathen (ALLEN) MATHES, from Warren Co, TN. I can copy this article for a SASE. Cheri Mello

    3. The Shepard Room was previously located in the Springfield Greene Co Main Library, smack dab in the middle of down-town Springfield. Last fall, they relocated to a newer, bigger ( MUCH!) facility on the extreme South side of Springfield, on South Campbell Avenue. The new building houses complete library, history/research center with seperate microfilm room, more room between aisles, as well as research tables. Internet-ready computers, deli/cafe ( no more leaving your research for lunch!!!) magazine reading room, children's play area, and gift shop. Apparently there is no other library in the country completely like it. From what I understand, they took the best of several libraries accross the country, and combined them into this one. The Greene Co Hist. Soc. still has its own library//research facility, in the same location, if you had ever been/written to it before. Not for sure exactly what the web address is for the new Spf Library, but the Greene Co MOGenWeb page has links to it. If not, let me know and I will dig it up for you. Jim Cochran Nixeee MO.
