Last part of trip notes on the Jones family from Mary Ann from Tucson. I'm sending this to the list since there are so many names and pieces of data included. Maxine Jones Lehmann is kin to Jones Union City was once known as School Bible in possession of Betty Wright, older dates written in by Mildred Crawford Sarah Ellen McElhaney dob 10/27/1858 Cloyd Hanafin and Rachel Leticia Jones marrriage10/31/1906 Willie Compton Billy Jones belonged to Woodsman Lodge in Billings Sarah Ellen Jones took insurance money to buy home place in Stone County Don Hanafin Rachel Leticia Jones Hanafin was mad at Aunt Bess Compton because she inherited the home place because of taking care of Orville and Dewey Jones [dh] Beulah Cornelia Little Walker Her mother was Zetta Jones who married David Little Beulah married Robert Franklin [Ted] Walker William Thomas Jones married Acenath Parthena [Ceny] Word and she died 7/20/1945. They had three children-Lizzie Jones Guthrie and twins-Zetta Jones Little and Etta. After the twins were born Ceny didn't want any more children. So the story goes she sent Lizzie to sleep with dad and she kept the twins with her. [birth control, par excellence] Asa Jones from Blue Eye would stay winters with various relatives. Beulah mentioned the following people-Lizzie and Efton Guthrie [not far from Hy 14 on Allen's old farm] and James Allen Jones and Ceny Ann Hawkins Prunty [She may have her Ceny's mixed up, it seems too many for me] James Allen Jones who was red-haired and red-bearded was the grandfather to the Velva and Edna Schoeneck. Rachel Leticia Jones Hanafin was a cousin of James Allen Jones and Allen Jones and Wm Riley Jones were brothers Riley Garfield Jones was "Tobe" and went with Aunt El. A short heavy-set lady used to come to seem them with Riley G. and Aunt El. Also a big, hard of hearing lady would come with them on other occasions. James A. There appears to be possible contradictions, but some of these kind, warm friendly folks who remember my mom are well up in years. Hope someone besides Cheri and I have fun with all of this. I may know more so feel free to query. Mary Ann

Hi Stone Co. researchers. Is there anyone researching the Baker family history? I am looking for the parents of Mary Baker, married to George Bull in East TN. Possibly Grainger Co. Thanks for any help or suggestions. James
I am still looking for the grave of Sarah (DURHAM-HENDRICKSON-TAYLOR)PAGE. Her last husband, Jacob Oliver PAGE is buried in Viola Cemetery (1900). Is she?? With no stone? I believe she died November 21,1914 from information I have been given. I have not been able to find out where Sarah's husband, Jordan F. TAYLOR (d1869) is buried nor Jordan's father and mother, John (d1858) and Lucinda TAYLOR. Also would like to know how Thomas Jack SMITH and Aunt Lucy Ellen SMITH, buried on either side of Laura May GARRISON-TAYLOR (d 1910) are related. As I understand it, Laura was married to Ruben Oliver Zebedee TAYLOR, oldest son of James Isaac and Julie Annie (Anderson) TAYLOR. Laura and Ruben were only married about a year. She was killed in a wagon accident, I have been told. (Viola Cemetery) I am slowly accumulating information on the TAYLOR family and hopefully, will be able to get it together enough to share with others who are "searching and sorting". Thanks so much---we will get this figured out, right?? You are all so special!! Diane Biggar-Taylor
I would like to take a couple minutes to "publically" thank BRIAN SHAY for his wonderful help. He took his time to go to the Viola Cemetery and take pictures of my TAYLOR family gravestones and send them to me via email. Brian took 8 pictures of family stones and also one of the entrance of the Viola Cemetery (beautiful, with iris and trees). Brian, you are just the greatest!!! I take a lot of gravestone pictures in the St. Helena and Napa Cemeteries for people on different lists, and let me tell you, this is something that is so much appreciated. I love doing this for others, and apparently, you do also. Bravo, Brian!!! Diane Biggar-Taylor

Mary Ann, I think that there are 2 Asa Jones, and a ton of Williams (who appeared to go by their middle name). I think the Asa buried in Blue Eye is mine. Then you mentioned another location for another Asa Jones. Hmmmm. I'll do some sleuthing at my FHC and let you know. Cheri Mello
Here is some info from cemeteries and other assorted sources. If sources aren't clear, I do have them, although many of them are elderly. Manley Cemetery, Christian County, MO Roy J. Nelson 9/3/1839-12/5/1914 Louisa C. Nelson !/7/1839-1/31/1933 Floyd Compton and Cleva Bell Middleton concurred on these notes. They are grandchildren of Wm. Riley and Sarah. Uncle Asa stayed with the Comptons, probably in the 30'. The Claude Comptons lived in Jamesville about 1935-1936. Asa was buried in Blue Eye in a large cemetery west of town. Uncle Billy Jones worked for the Railroad, belonged to a lodge, and died of TB. The Little White Assembly of God owned the cemetery and the Claude Comptons went to church there. Sarah Ellen Jones funeral was at that church. Uncle Asa Jones who may have married to Nancy Goodall was a brother of William Riley. Bess Compton was less than 16 when she got married so she put the number 16 in her shoe so when the jp asked her if she was over 16 she could say yes honestly. They do not know whether John Jones had children Orville Jones died at Fayetteville Veterans Hospital Dewey Jones died at Bess Compton's in Billings Dewey bought jeep Orville never drove a car They do not know whether John Jones had children Orville died at Fayetteville Veterans Hospital Dewey died at Bess Compton's in Billings Orville and Dewey dug graves. Mary Ann, Somewhere along the line I have gotten confused. :{ Who is the father of your W. Riley Jones? Or is that what we are seeking? The Riley Jones on 1900 union census, is he yours?? He would be about the age of the son of Hezekial, but the age is off a couple of years (by guess-timate) I guess I've been looking at Jones' too long, they're all beginning to run together! Is your Jones line the one with William R Jones m Sarah Ellen McElhaney?? (scratches her head in total confusion!) I went to my family history center here in Tucson today which has the complete 1880 census permanently. I went through Stone and part of Christian County looking for Jones again. I found many and some for which part of the page was gone but on the next page the rest of the children named Jones. I cannot find Allen Jones who owned the land in Christian County from 1889 to 1913. I did find Wm. Riley under Riley with wife Ellen [Sarah Ellen] and the only way I could possibly know they are mine is because of the names of the children, my grandmother and her brothers and sisters. They were in Stone County, Union Township in 1900. Also I have my cemetery pictures back and I'll put people born before 1900 on first in hopes that helps a bit, but not tonight. I sent my e-mail wrong last night, so had to do the other one over tonight. Mary Ann
