    1. [MOSTONE-L] ANDERSON, Benjamin Herschel, Jr.
    2. (My note: There is more to this obit if anyone is interested--many grandchildren, ggrandchildren listed by name. Is it possible his mother's maiden name should have been BERRY (instead of BEERY)? Diane Biggar-Taylor) Napa Valley Register Napa, CA May 25, 2000 Benjamin Herschel ANDERSON, Jr. passed away on May 23, 2000. He was born on July 11, 1900, in Morrisville, Mo., to Benjamin H. ANDERSON, Sr. and Olive Magdalene BEERY. Leona Mary (Dixie) GRANT, his wife of 76 years, predeceased him. As a young man in Missouri, Herschel worked breaking horses, and as a farmer, barber, blacksmith and on the railroad. During the Depression, Herschel and Dixie moved their family to Santa Paula, Calif., where they worked in the citrus industry until he got a job as a shipbuilder at Mare Island, where he retired in 1963. In his post retirement yeas, he worked at Donaldson Way School in Vallejo until reaching the then mandatory retirement age of 70. Healthy and alert into great old age, Herschel could be seen riding his three-wheel bicycle around the neighborhoods in which he lived. He was an avid reader and read without glasses until his death. He and Dixie entertained family and friends with their music, Herschel on the fiddle, his wife at the piano, and everyone else singing along. After his wife's death, he continued to play for the residents of Piner's guest home, as well as at family gatherings. Herschel is survived by his sons, Benjamin H. Anderson III of Napa, and William Howard Anderson of Boise, Idaho...........................

    2. Vonda Sheets
    3. Hi, Y'all... Hey, is anyone aware of there being an orphanage anywhere in or near Stone Co.? I have an Iola Bertha Day who was placed in one about 1903. Problem is, it had to have been around Stone Co., almost, because that's where she supposedly met her husband, Frank Macomb. I don't recall any such place, but I was wondering if someone might have a clue. Vonda

NOTHING exists from the 1890 for MO. There are fragments. The largest fragment is Perry Co, AL, at about 3/4 of a roll of microfilm. For a complete listing as for what does or does not exist for the 1890, check out Emily Anne Croom's "The Genealogist's Companion & Sourcebook" Betterway Books, 1994, pp. 18-19. Jo would know better than I do, but I don't think that Christian Co, 1880 is online. Sincerely, Cheri Mello

    3. Hi Pama, As far as I know my two transciptions of 1860 and 1870 Christian Co. censuses are the only ones online. I have thought about doing the 1880 and but I must have transcription burnout because I have no desire to tackle that one. I do have the 1880 here at home and the 1900 too. There was no 1890. If you need a lookup I will be glad to look for you. You can order a transcription from Maxine Wilson in Ozark Mo. Her address is on the regular Christian County website of MoGenWeb. Glad you have found my transcriptions beneficial. That was my objective in doing all that work.......so people could find their ancestors. Jo

    2. Jo, Hello, this is Pama, again. Can I ask where you went to get the 1880 census for Christian Co... Seems like I have looked everywhere for it or anything that is forwarded like 1890 or 1900 but can't seem to find it. I even went to the over all census for U.S. and still wasn't able to locate. Also, I must tell you that I admire all the time that you have done in transcribing all the materials that you have. I pulled up one page on one of the census and thought my eyes were never going to stop twitching. Great Job. Thank you, Pama

    2. Hello, I have Norton's Antivirus and Norton's Internet Security. I did not have any trouble with this site. I am pretty sure a webpage can not contain a virus. There needs to be an applet of some kind and this webpage is pure HTML. plain, no java nor activeX. I had not seen this site and found it quite interesting since it did cover the entire state of Missouri. Thanks for the information.
