Thanks so much, Cheri. This has not been a good week. I have lump in breast, back toward chest wall. Doctor # 1 says full biopsy in two weeks and later mastectomy or lumpectomy and 6 weeks of radiation. We go to Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale on Tuesday and hope that they can at least get to the biopsy sooner. Not much encouragement that this could be benign lump. I'll copy your e-mail, but please keep this so you can send it again as I'm real confused and befuddled right now. This gives me a reason to take computer Monday night and something concrete to work on
Dear List, Finally had success today from the MO Bureau of Vital Statistics. I did what you folks recommended....I said I was his great-granddaughter (a bit of a fib) and I enclosed the original statement saying I paid the $10. That did the trick as they sent me the death certificate. Allen JONES was b. 10 Sep 1837 in IN (according to the death certificate) and d. 3 Feb 1913 in Christian Co, MO. It lists his father as Hesekiah JONES, b. IN and Syntha PINKLY (actually, it looks like Pwkly with a dot above the first part of the w). I realize the names are spelled wrong; this is how they appear on the death certif. Here is Hezekiah's complete family: Hezekiah JONES b. 1812/3/5 (depends on which census you read) probably in NC marries #1 Cynthia PINKLEY? c. 1835 unknown place). They had 3 kids: Allen JONES b. 10 Sep 1837 m. Mary Ellen CARTER (probably in Christian Co, MO) and d. 3 Feb 1913 in Christian Co. Nancy Ann JONES b. 17 Aug 1839 m. William "Bill" HEMBREE 30 Aug 1857 in Stone Co, she d. 8 Oct 1917 in Stone Co. Lewis S. JONES b. c. 1844 m. 22 Sep 1863 Stone Co, MO to Matilda Adaline SULLIVAN. I don't have Lewis' death date. By 1850, Hezekiah has no wife. I'm guessing that she died in childbirth or shortly after having Lewis. I did not list birth locations for Allen, Nancy, or Lewis. In 1850, their father says they were b. in MO, yet, when the children are older, they say IN (as Nancy's and Allen's death certificates indicate and various censuses). Nancy & Allen are listed twice in 1850 (Taney Co). They appear once with their father and are also listed with the PINKNEY family (info courtsey of Jo :) My comments are in CAPS). 1850 Newton Township House number 174 PINKNEY, A. (Allen) age 26, male IN PINKNEY, R.A. (Rachel Merit), age 22, female IN PINKNEY, L.A., age 4, female MO JONES, A. age 13, male, IN (THIS IS ALLEN, Hez's SON). JONES N.A. age 11, female IN (THIS IS NANCY ANN, Hez's DAUGHTER) Allen d-Jun 1856 Stone Co. (I THINK THIS REFERS TO ALLEN PINKNEY). Swan Township House number 116 Jones, H., (Hezekiah) age 38 male NC A., age 13, male MO (THIS IS ALLEN) N., age 11, female MO (THIS IS NANCY ANN) L.S., (Lewis S.) age 6, male MO (IT ALREADY SAYS LEWIS). I'm guessing that the kids really weren't living with Hez. I'm hoping that the Pinkley's were his first wife's relatives. I don't know where Lewis S. was really living in 1850. Why would dad say his children born in MO and others and the kids later say IN? I need to find Hez & Cyn's marriage....I'm not too sure if it would be in MO or IN. Jo made the following note to me. I may have to poke around here: <<There were Taney County Jones who migrated from NC to Morgan County Indiana. It was a popular migration route. So if Hezekiah was born in NC perhaps his family took that route.>> Hezekiah married a 2nd time to Nancy Parril(l)a/Paralee MATHES on 16 Jun 1854 in Stone Co MO. They have 3 more kids: William Riley JONES b. 16 Feb 1855 (tombstone...hey MaryAnn, that means this was an 8-month pregnancy in the 1850's?) m. 1886 Christian Co MO to Sarah Ellen McELHANEY, he d. 25 Feb 1910 in Stone Co, MO Asa G. JONES b. 6 Mar 1858 Stone Co MO, m. 18 Aug 1878 Stone Co MO to Mary Jane YOUNGBLOOD, he d. 7 Jan 1940. Sarah JONES b. c. 1859/60 Stone Co MO. No further info at this time. Hezekiah dies between 15 Jan 1872 (when he was issued a land patent) and 1 Nov 1873 (when his widow Nancy has the land patent put in her name). Can anyone shed more light on this? Or any info about the PINKLEYs and where they came from? I'm going to poke around on the Stone Co. Webpage and answer half of my own questions. Cheri Mello Baffled in CA

I ought to have my hands slapped. Deleted a lot of my mail and along with some of the other researchers surnames. So I will ask, is someone out there trying to locate a Lucinda Taylor around 1850? If so, I found one in a census. Just let me know.::Bad Fingers, slapping them slightly::. Warmest Smiles, Pama
Hi Pama. It is me trying to find Lucinda. And I know where she was in 1950. It is 1840 that I need to know, also to verify when and where she died and where she is buried. If you run across any of that, let me know. okay? Lucinda (maiden name unknown) is the gggrandmother of my husband, Dale Taylor. Dale's father was Robert Taylor; grandfather, Jordan R. Taylor; ggrandfather, Jordan F. Taylor, and gggrandfather was John Taylor, married to Lucinda. Thanks again Pama. Diane Biggar-Taylor > I ought to have my hands slapped. I will certainly do that? I do know that Sarah Chism married I think a T. A. Vickie, I am responding to your inquiry as I have a friend whose Mother was a Chisum. I may have some information around here somewhere on her family as another close friend (her cousin) gave me some information on their CHISUMs several years ago. (She has since passed away). Nevertheless, I am getting ready to go on vacation and ask you to respond to this note and remind me around the 15th of July, when I will try to "dig" out the information given me about 20 years ago. If ya see em..would ya tell em I'm trying to find em?? Robin Heres a poem by Wayne Hand, that says it best!!! Kinsman Alas, my elusive kinsman You.ve led me quite a chase I thought I'd found your courthouse But the Yankees burned the place. You always kept your bags packed Although you had no fame, and Just for the fun of it Twice you changed your name. You never owned any man, or At least I found no bills In spite of eleven offsprings You never left a will. They say our name's from Europe Came state side on a ship I'm the only one looking Another searcher I can't find I pray(maybe that's his fathers name) As I go out of my mind. They said you had a headstone In a shady plot I've been there twenty times, and Can't even find the lot. You never wrote a letter Your Bible we can't find It's probably in some attic Out of sight and out of mind. You first married a ....Smith And just to set the tone The other four were Sarahs And everyone a Jones. You cost me two fortunes One of which I did not have My wife, my house and Fido God, how I miss that yellow lab. But somewhere you sliped up, Ole Boy, Somewhere you left a track And if I don't find you this year Well.....Next year I'll be back! (original poem by Wayne Hand, 1999) Sometimes poetry says it best!!! Thanks Wayne!!! Good luck to all of us!!
Thanks Jo. Would anyone know if there is a list like this for Tennessee and Alabama? Diane Biggar-Taylor > New records this week at Rootsweb: > > MARRIAGE DATABASE. There is a Franklin Co. Arkansas, I think. I am not sure where the courthouse is but if you get a map online, you can find the county seat. I think it is close to Lawrence Co., all in NW Arkansas. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vickie Lomon" <lomon@junct.com> To: <MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 11, 2000 9:46 PM Subject: [MOSTONE-L] CHISM or CHISUM > Hello , I am new to the list, but is anyone out there researching the Chism or Chisum family of Mo. > I find a Elisha Chisum in Lawrence county, Ark. who died in intestate 1827, bonded was a Winnie Chisum, executrix. > Then a Winnie Chism and Benjamin Chism are on the Lawrence county, Tax list 182i, then Winnie Chism is listed as a Pioneer and Maker of ARk. Last night we began watching a very interesting program on PBS called "The 1900's House". It is about a real family who volunteered to go live in a house renovated to be exactly like one would have been in 1900. I believe it is a three part series. It is on each Monday night at 9:00 Central Time. At least that is the schedule for San Antonio. Check your local listings to find out what time it is on where you live. If you want to read about it go to: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/1900house/ We found it fascinating, so I am passing the information on. It will interesting to see how long the family can last in The 1900's House. Jo
