I have been told there there are 2 or more separate Crabtree families who were living in Stone Co. Is this correct? I am interested in the Maxwell/Crabtree line and the Crabtree/Stallions lines. Does anyone have any information on these. Are they the same family? My Costlows m into the Maxwells who m into the Crabtrees. I have some information on them..willing to share what I have. :} Thanks in advance! Robin http://members.xoom.com/Robid/Page_1.htm http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~biddle/settlers.htm
Dawna, I thought she belonged to them!! It sure threw me when I saw that Martha Moore! I have spent the day chasing some loose Edwards, Pitts, and Jones family members who all seem to want to claim each other for relatives!! Can't think why, can you??? <giggle> I wish those folks would've thought of the mess they were going to create when they decided to Marry! They left relatives strung out all over the place!! <G> Thanks for your help! I do appreciate it :} Robin -----Original Message----- From: Dawna111@aol.com <Dawna111@aol.com> To: MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com <MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, July 11, 2000 7:08 PM Subject: Re: [MOSTONE-L] Reece Crabtree >Here's the 1900 census for Reese & Tabitha Crabtree with your Ida M. and her >husband William listed with them. > >1900 This family (Reese & Tabitha Crabtree) is living in Washington Township, >Stone CO, MO Reese's occupation is listed as a Grist miller. > On the census: Reese & Tabitha have been married 31 years. five or their >seven children are still living. Gosh, didn't mean to coz such a stir..but I sure do appreciate all of you setting things straight!! Isn't just like me to stir up a bees nest and then run for cover??? <giggle> Actually, this brings up a very good lesson for all of us!! In my attempt to track our Old Settlers, I decided to take a look at some FTM disc containing family files. This was a juicy looking one, coz it had several of our Stone Co families listed in it. This is where I found the marriage for Reece Crabtree to Martha Moore. I knew someone had been searching for information on Reece, and I had him listed as being m to Tabitha, so I thought I would try to confirm my information before I took the information in the file as Gospel!! There are several families listed with the correct information..but it does pay to double check when in doubt! Besides that, whoever sent the file, submitted it with a file error which nearly crashed my computer!! Thank you all for responding to my quest for correct information! Robin http://members.xoom.com/Robid/Page_1.htm http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~biddle/settlers.htm
Here's the 1900 census for Reese & Tabitha Crabtree with your Ida M. and her husband William listed with them. 1900 This family (Reese & Tabitha Crabtree) is living in Washington Township, Stone CO, MO Reese's occupation is listed as a Grist miller. On the census: Reese & Tabitha have been married 31 years. five or their seven children are still living. Melvina has married James Stacey; William T. , 23, is living at home; Ervin R. is 22, at living at home; Ida M. had married William J. Edwards and Minnie 17, was still living at home.
Can anyone tell me if Reece Crabtree that m Tabitha Jones is the same Reece Crabtree that was m to a Martha Moore??? I need to clarify parents for Ida May Crabtree who m an Edwards. Thanks! Robin http://members.xoom.com/Robid/Page_1.htm http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~biddle/settlers.htm
Can anyone tell me if Jonas Edwards m Martha Hayes or Haynes? I believe the marriage records list her as Hayes..but found another source that listed her as Haynes. Would like to clarify. Also, does anyone know where Jonas Edwards went? Am I overlooking him?? Attention Helen!!! I believe I have found your Jones/Edwards connection!! Please write! Is anyone researching the John P Yates family who resided in James twp, 1870 ? Any connections out there??? Looking for his parents and maiden name of his wife. Thanks, Robin http://members.xoom.com/Robid/Page_1.htm http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~biddle/settlers.htm

Good luck on your knees. I teach school and had both of mine replaces June 1, 1995. So I tell my kids (elementary) that I am like the space ship, made out of Titanium. They always get a kick out of that. I was lucky and had a terrific doctor and am doing just great with mine. Hope you do likewise. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James R. Does anyone know how Ada Sheppard fits into the Pitts family? We know that Mexico Pitts m Diana "Dicey" Sheppard. Then on the 1870 James Census, we have Beda Alice Sheppard at age 5 living with her mother Ada Sheppard. By 1880 she is living as a grandaughter to Mexico Pitts and her brother Danial/David is living next door. Heres the thing.. Ada does not fit into any of the Children I have listed for Mexico Pitts & Dicey. Can anyone help sort this out? Thanks!! Does anyone have a copy of the 1920 census for Stone Co.?? Please let me know if you do and if you would be able to help me with one lookup. Thanks! Jerry Johnston Gerald Hankins "Jerry" Johnston Researching the following families: Adkins, Austin, Bills, Caudle, Coulter, Covington, Elledge, Ferguson, Forrester, Foster, Frank, George, Greenback, Hankins, Hess, Hutson, Johnson, Johnston, Kicenski, Mitchell, Mustain, Narramore, Reece, Roberts, Schell, Schwegler, Stacey, Stephens, Tinsley, Traylor, Van Der Grift, Watts, and various and sundry others!
Geraline, There won't be a death certificate for your ancestor if he died in the 1860's. Stone County did not send death certificates to the State until the 1900's. Censuses for 1860 through 1910 are online on the Stone County web site. You might want to try variations on the name Prewitt.....on censuses I have transcribed I have noticed that Prewitt was spelled several different ways. Pruitt is one I can remember, and Pruwitt. You might also want to check the cemetery lists on the site. Good luck with your research. Let us know if we can be of further assistance. This is an interesting website regarding the old "Dogpatch" amusement park. Apparently it is still privately owned. http://www.kaeskorner.com/marblefalls.html Marble Falls/Marble City was one of the many Ozarks towns that exist no longer, but at one time the springs were thought to have some beneficial properties. It was also the place where Arkansas's stone for the Washington monument was cut. This is a little off topic for a Stone County list, but if any of you get the chance, you ought to head down that way. Newton County, Arkansas is one of the most beautiful spots on earth.
