Oh Jo! Thanks so much...I knew she should be listed as Haynes , but thought perhaps she was living in household of Taylors..and was wondering what her connection was. Of course, You do know that I could have taken my self to the local library to check for myself ...I was just looking for that quick fix so that I didn't have to make the long drive..LOL She was the Widow of William Haynes. (in case anyone is looking for her.) Just need her maiden name now..<G> Robin -----Original Message----- From: Josephine or Peter Dunne <PDUNNE@satx.rr.com> To: MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com <MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, July 12, 2000 5:40 PM Subject: Re: [MOSTONE-L] Edwards >There is indeed an error on the online 1860 Census. Hi Robin, A question for you, Which John do you think it was? Census sleuthing leads me to think that John is the son of Jonas Edwards. How about you? And my cousin Keith Edwards found on World Family Tree Vol 13 Tree # 3149 this same information. Hi Cousin Rose, Our common ancestor would be William Edwards c 1780's-1840's, so we're about 5th cousins, family nonetheless. Your Joseph Elihu Edwards is the brother to the Jonas Edwards in a recent post. Both are sons of Elihu Jackson Edwards.( I descend from Samuel Edwards on the 1860 census, cousin of Elihu Jackson Edwards. I have a single page from the probate of J E Edwards Feb 1935, It shows heirs as being Fred Edwards, Don Edwards, and the heirs of Nettie Herman Edwards Hill (Inez, Unice, and Joseph Hill). All Of Reed Spring Looking forward to exchanging info with you. There is indeed an error on the online 1860 Census. The Haynes family should begin with 49 year old Sarah and continue down until you come to THOMPSON, Annis. Sorry about that. Robin, When I saw your question about Martha ,age 49, I reached for my copy of a 1972 Mildred Roden worksheet on the Taylors which I got from Ruth Asher 6 years ago. They were trying to decipher Ruth's ancestor Valentine Taylor's connection to these 1850 and 60 Taylors in Stone Co (Doesn't seem to be any, by the way). 1860 Stone Co, # 127 Taylor, Lucinda 57 f Tn Jordan 33 m Tn James 17 m Ala Phebe 17 f Ala Samuel 14 m Ala Isaac 11 m Mo Sarah Haynes 49 f Tn William Haynes 16 m Tn George " 13 m " Sarah F 11 f " Martha 9 f Mo Clementine 5 f Mo Annis Thompson 26 Tn Malinda E 1 f Mo So from this I think that Sarah is a Haynes and we have a transcription omission on the 1860 on-line census. She is probably the mother of 21 year old Lazarus Haynes who lives near. The father Haynes must have died after 1855 in Mo, and hopefully there is a record that mentions him With children born in Tn 1849 and Mo 1851 they may be on either states 1850 census or perhaps missed altogether because of being on the road. Martha is probably the sister of Lucinda or of Lucinda's deceased husband John Taylor. If the Haynes are from Franklin Co Tn (the north end of Crow Creek) there may be a marriage record, if they married in Jackson Co Al it is lost. A death certificate for one of the Haynes children on the 1860 census would probably tell us her maiden name. GENEALOGY, MY FAVORITE GAME!!! Hello there.... I am not related to the Edward's family. Nettie died at a young age and I am the granddaughter of George Arnold Hill and his second wife Audie Mae Crabtree, daughter of William Thomas Crabtree and Ada May Baker. However, I have two cousins, James Bruffet who is the son of Inez Maureen Hill and David Crabtree who is the son of Eunice Loreen Hill who I am sure they would be very happy to share information with you. I don't have that much on the Edward's family., so I would appreciate any information to add to my tree! I wish I had more to give you. I will e-mail you privately to give you their e-mail addresses. Thanks so much for responding! Robin, Yes there are two Crabtree families, but I believe they are connected somehow. I just need to find the link. I know I have a connection to both sides. Reese Crabtree who married Tabiatha Jones is my gr-gr-gr grandfather. I am related to the "other" Crabtree's via Mary Smith (Smyth) who married Bowling Baker. She is my gr-gr-gr-grandmother. Mary's Aunt Rebecca Smyth married Job Crabtree. This is where the confusion starts. Job & Rebecca (Smyth) Crabtree's first two son's are named Abraham & Isaac Crabtree. They also had a son named William Thomas Crabtree. Now, My Gr-gr-gr grandfather Reese Crabtree's father is named Abraham Crabtree who has a brother ( I believe) named Isaac Crabtree. Isaac Crabtree named one of his son's "Reese". To make matters a bit more confusing My "Reese" had a son named William Thomas Crabtree who married Ada May Baker who is the granddaughter of Mary Smith (Smyth), niece to Rebecca Smyth Crabtree! This is one BIG jumbled puzzle I'm desperately trying to put together! Is anyone else as confused as I am? :)~ Rose ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mindvoice" <Mindvoice@email.msn.com> To: <MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2000 10:26 AM Subject: Re: [MOSTONE-L] Crabtree's > Rose, > Wallace Maxwell is a brother to Curtis Maxwell who m Susan Costlow. > He is also a brother to Agnes Annie Maxwell who m Joseph H Jones and then m > John Valentine Costlow, both children of Edward Costlow and Mary Taylor. > Both Maxwells children of David H Maxwell. > To complicate matters more, Charles Maxwell s/o Curtis G Maxwell & > Susan Costlow , m Ella Ethel Crabtree, d/o Henry Crabtree & Mary Essery. Rich, Thanks..and that brings me to the next question...that Sarah living in the Taylor household and m Haynes...is she a Taylor, possibly a sister to John Taylor??? She is not listed as Haynes, so made me curious. Thanks so much for helping sort these Edwards out! Okay, gang.... I'm doing some major messin', and finding links between my Overstreets and the Schwyharts in the 1900 Stone census. Does anyone know ANYTHING about the Schwyharts (try typing that real fast!), George and James? James md Elizabeth Overstreet in Carroll Co. AR in 1888, living in James Twp 1900 #1356. George md Margaret Yochum, (d/o Joseph, and who is he related to?). George's mother is living with them in 1900 James Twp #1302. Are George and James bros.? And if so, who was their dad? More, more, more....yee haw, it's not fair to get so tickled at FINALLY figuring this Overstreet mess out.... (no, mine do not appear to be related to William Henry O) Vonda
Rose, Wallace Maxwell is a brother to Curtis Maxwell who m Susan Costlow. He is also a brother to Agnes Annie Maxwell who m Joseph H Jones and then m John Valentine Costlow, both children of Edward Costlow and Mary Taylor. Both Maxwells children of David H Maxwell. To complicate matters more, Charles Maxwell s/o Curtis G Maxwell & Susan Costlow , m Ella Ethel Crabtree, d/o Henry Crabtree & Mary Essery. (I need Henry's parents) This is why I was asking about the two Crabtree families..LOL I was also interest in the Tabitha Jones because of the Jones family mystery on who the father of Joseph H Jones (he m Rachel Taylor) was. There were strong family similarities with the musical abilities of these two Jones lines which made me wonder if perhaps they were related. Rose, Got Your grandpa.:} Eliheu m Susan Bolen.. I was looking for the Edwards connection for Kinsadia Jones, d/o Joseph Jones & Martha Martin. Just couldn't figure out which one of the John Edwards she had married. LOL Sometimes I take the long way around , but I eventually get where I'm going by process of elimination. There is a strong tie with the Edwards, Taylors, Jones, Crabtrees and several other of my Ancestors. The Edwards familiy in particular seem to link in very strongly so I knew they were either very close friends or relatives. They seemed to Migrate across country with each other, which is why I began to put my focus on them. I had been working on and off with them for 5 or 6 years , but just couldn't fit them all into place. I am hoping to get The Stone Co. Edwards accounted for so that I can place them on my Old Settlers list. Thanks so much for your help. I'd be glad to take Washington Township. I have no idea what is involved, but I'm reasonably adept with spreadsheets and suppose that you will tell me what I need to know. If there are other townships that you would like me to take as well, I'm willing. Its such a good website, I'd be pleased to be able to contribute in some way. Thanks. Ed Tenny Kirkland, Washington

Dear List, It is through the goodness of others that many of us are able to find a vast amount of information online. The Stone Co. Website is one of the best ones I've seen. It has marriages, wills, and all the censuses except the 1920 online. I have volunteered to coordinate the extraction of the 1920 census. The only thing required of you is your quarters (it's 25 cents a page at my FHC), a vague idea of how to do a spreadsheet, and your time. I will pay for the postage. Below are the unclaimed townships and the approximate pages. If you are interested in taking a larger twp or a couple of the smaller ones, please email me.
