I received my copy of this fabulous book today. Can't wait to jump in and see what new goodies I can find. If your ancestors were on the 1860 Stone Cty Census they can be found in this book. I want to thank Robin for all the work she put into this project.

Hello MOSTONERS, I am pleased to say that the first township of the 1920 Stone County Census is online. There has been a wonderful response to Cheri's request for volunteer transcribers, and we are so grateful to all who have generously volunteered their time to transcibe a portion of the census. Thank you all so much. The first township is UNION. I volunteered for that one because my mother was born in Union Township. It is online at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/1920census/1920.htm Townships will be put online as they are completed. Happy Hunting, Jo
Rose, I don't see them listed in my database. I have some James Meltons, but don't show a marriage to a Rutledge. : But, you know what? I know those names, coz my Mama use to talk about them!! Well, since we're limiting the info we need to transcribe to only one sheet, should be OK to put one page per sheet. I'm not that blind yet - and could always take to a copy center to blow up the size if I get desperate~works sometimes when the handwriting is semi-illegible. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Kinklector@aol.com> To: <MOSTONE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2000 10:38 PM Subject: Re: [MOSTONE-L] 1920 Census Update - Townships up for Transcribing > In a message dated 7/12/2000 3:07:38 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > beatsme@netins.net writes: > > << I'll opt for White River & Otto if that's OK. A new board of trustees has recently been formed for Yocum Pond Cemetery. It has been years since there has been a board and an attempt has been been made to discover old records, cemetery plat, etc. Several possible leads have been pursued and to date we have had no success.

Okay, Mickey sent me this... >James Michael Schwyhart dob 02 Feb. 1827 . Mickey< and this-- >Father James Michael Schwyhart born 2 Feb. Belmont,Belm, Ohio married 08 May 1852 in Bellefon,Loga,Ohio Died 15 Jul 1900 ,Stone, Missouri Mother Susan Matilda Bell born Jan 1821 in Ohio and died 03 Jul ,Stone, Missouri< Which would indicate that the James in the 1900 Stone who is married to my Elizabeth Overstreet in 1888 Carroll Co. AR is indeed the father of George. And Mickey says he died in Jun 1900. Guess a trip to the library for estate records, maybe, is in order. And divorce records, since Susan is living in son George's 1900 household. Both Mickey and Jean say that Wadkins/Pitts/Schwyharts/Hammer and Joseph Yocum (Hah, Robin!) or two came from KY together, or I've read that tonight twice (sorry, I just know that Mickey and Jean should be together on this one!). Does anyone know what year this happened? Am I straight on this? Although the Carroll Co. Marriages say James was 52 in 1888, if someone makes as many type-overs as I do, then it might should oughta been 62. And that would figure about right. Or else someone didn't hear him state his age right. I can seem to document all of GWO's kids and wives, except for Mary M. Roberts. And George himself. arrrrrgh. I think I am confused. Vonda

OKAY, this is cruel and totally unfair.... I note that Jean says she has a Pitts who is a George and Margaret Schwyhart descandant. Then I go to the CA Death records and it has this... Schwyhart, Robert Marion b 12/31/1923 MO d Butte Co. CA 4/28/1997. And his mother's maiden name is Pitts. George Overstreet had a son, Robert Marion O. who was the son of 1st wife, Mary Ruckman. Robert's wife was Susan Delana Edwards. They go and pull stunts like this, and I'm going to join the rest of you taking Excedrin for Migraines. Now we can add Edwards, Ruckman, and Pitts to Butte Co. CA. There's a Joe Pitts b 1914 MO there as well. Where were the Schwyharts in 1910 or 1920? Vonda
I think Jean meant to send the below to the list... Jean and others with Thinking Caps, the deal is this....my aunt's husband (does any other genealogist have a problem with calling the ones who married into the family aunt and uncle, except face-to-face?) met an old couple back in the early 1970s, over by Lampe. They told him they knew George Washington Overstreet, and that he had 5 wives. I've only documented 3--Mary Ruckman (md 1863 Greene Co. MO), Mary M. Roberts (md 1891 Stone Co. MO) and Mary Ellen Yates Hammer (md 1900 Stone Co.) At the time, Uncle Butch didn't write down the couple's names or anything--he thought GWO's 5 wives were family knowledge. My hunch is this couple was one of James Schwyhart and Elizabeth Overstreet's (GWO and Ruckman's dau.) sons and his wife. According to SSDI (what a WONDERFUL thing that is), 2 of George and Margaret's sons lived and died in the Stone/Taney area. George and Margaret had a son, James, who md a Florence Burris, whose mother was a Carey (Margaret Melissa Ellen Carey d/o John W. Sr. and Susannah Pitts Carey). To make matters worse, Mack Carey's 2nd wife was another of GWO's daughters, by Mary Roberts, Bertha Jewell. HOWEVER, as Robin has pointed out, it looks as though James Schwyhart's first wife, Susan Bell (if we are discussing the same James) is still living in 1900 in son George's household. I'm also not finding graves in Stone Co. for the James Schwyharts, although George and Margaret appear to be buried in Philibert. A big ole bunch of these folks--are you catching on, Richard Edwards?--moved to CA in the 1920s, with Richard's Andoes and etc. Butte Co. CA, to be exact. And boy, is there a wealth of info in the CA Birth & Death Index at Rootsweb. This group included: Overstreet, Andoe, Schwyhart, Edwards (?), Ambrose, and other married-in families. And I've just scratched the surface...I've not even attempted to fit the Bilyeu and Clinkenbeards in yet, although some went, as well. Vonda >>Vonda, I may be able to help you here, with a contact.
