Hello List, Can anyone tell me about a William Balew that was born in Mississippi about 1832. His wife's name was Nancy and she was born about 1833 in Ill. I found them in the 1860 Taney County Census, Swan Township. The children listed were Jacob 1848 AR., Cleveland 1855 AR., John 1858 MO., and Harriett 1859 MO. The child that I am interested in is Jacob. My great great grandpa's name shows only initials in the 1880 Christian County Census. Initials were J. A. born about 1849. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Warmest Smiles, Pama

I NEED THE NAMES OF THE GOVERNOR OF MO, THE SENATOR FROM MO AND THE MAJOR OF JEFFERSON CITY, MO. WHY? BECAUSE THEY ARE TAKING PEOPLES MONEY WITHOUT FULFILLING THEIR PART. I SENT FOR A DEATH CERT. FOR JAMES LEWIS ESTES OF NEWTON CO, MO. WHAT I GOT WAS A JAMES E. OF DALLAS COUNTY,MO. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED AN ENVELOPE FROM JEFF CITY, MO WITH A WIDOW'S THREE COPIES IN IT. SHE PROBABLY NEEDED THE CERTIFICATES TO SETTLE THE ESTATE SINCE THE MAN JUST DIED IN APRIL, 2000. WHAT UPSET ME IS THE FACT THAT SHE JUST LIVES IN BUFFALO MO. AND HER IT COMES TO TENN. IF EVERYONE THAT EVER SENT TO JEFFERSON CITY WOULD COMPLAIN TO THE GOVERNOR, SENATOR AND MAJOR MAYBE SOMETHING WOULD BE DONE ABOUT THE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE THAT WORK AT VITAL STATISTICS. I KEEP WONDERING WHO HAS MY CERTIFICATES THAT I HAVE SENT FOR. I AM TIRED OF DONATING MONEY AND NOT RECEIVING THE DEATH CERTIFICATES THAT I ASKED FOR. PLEASE, EVERYONE WRITE AND COMPLAIN. THANKS...MARY (DOLL DOC)
This may be old hat to you guys, but I was just playing with ancestry.com when I discovered that they had a civil war pension index under the military records. If you are missing someone it might be a place to look for them. Until later Pam
According to the Stone Co. Hist. Vol 1, Carol Gore and his 2nd wife, Nancy (Granny Gore) came to Owens Bend in Stone Co. in the late 1850s. However, I have a picture of their tombstones/memorials at Philibert Cemetery, and they say Wm. Carol "Tipton" Gore d 1853 Owens Bend, and Granny died 1917. I looked in the 1860 census, and there aren't any Gores there. Did Owens Bend fall into Barry County? Plus, the only Gores in 1870 Stone is James and his family. Where are Granny and the rest of them? Vonda

Okay, Again, gotta do all three lists, unfortunately. If you aren't researching these groups, you can delete w/o hurting my feelings. 1880 Taney MO Beaver Twp #44 Johnson, J. Andrew stayed in Taney Co. apparently, or returned to it (there are no 1910 Taney Cross folks). I have no idea who his wife was; I looked up the POWERS family, but there isn't a Lillie. Ideas? If someone can figure out which of the 38 Male Jones who died in Sacramento was married to Anna, I'd like to know. I have a sneaking suspicion its one of my Bull/Wilson/Jones bunch who lived around Roark Creek in Taney & Reeds Spring. But I don't have all their names! Please pass this on to those you know might be interested! Vonda
Okay, got a question...(sorry to post to all 3 lists, but Someone May Know Something....<S>) As some know, I'm trying to straighten out the Overstreet/Schwyhart/Yates, etc, so on, and so forth, bunch. Okeydoke, Abt. 1866, a Florrence Keith b abt 1843 FRA (1870, 1880 Taney Census) md Amanda J. Oliver b abt 1845, Taney Co. MO, d/o Frances Archie and John Oliver. They had 4 sons, John, Amos, Sebastian, Lonnie. Don't know what happened to them after 1880. I found that a long time ago. Then, this week, in diving into this Stone Co. group, I find that Antoine Keith b 1852 GER md bef 1880 Eliza Ann Yates b 10 Feb 1856 MO, d/o John P. Yates and Mary Jane Bailey/Beal. Now, he went by Tony, and there is at least a Schwyhart and a Pitts named after good ol' Tony. Probably more. They are just md in 1880 Stone Census. By 1900, Tony and Eliza Ann are in Taney Co., Oliver Twp, md 20 years with 5 preg. and 3 children still alive-- Mary C. John T, and James W. There is a Jefferson Keath in 1860 Greene, but his kids and these don't match up. None in 1860 Christian. Nor in 1860 Lawrence. 1910 shows Antoine and son James living not far from the Lewallens and Olivers in Oliver Twp, Taney Co. Antoine is now shown as being b GER. James is married to an M. W. Wilson--I'm afraid she's related to me, on my dad's OTHER side...(OH NO! She is! aaarrrrrrrrrgh She's my Grandpa George Wilson's cousin through his g uncle Frank and uh, oh, Sarah Lewallen.) Nephew? John is also in Oliver Twp 1910 Taney, md to Bessie Ellison with 2 kids. Anyone know anything about these? You won't believe what started it...a Cyrus Bell Schwyhart b 1857 OH md 1 Jan 1893 Ollie May OLIVER, and I'm trying to find THAT marriage, and if there is a connection between Ollie and Taney Co. Olivers, and if Antonie and Florrence Keithe are bros. or something. Ollie and Cyrus didn't apparently marry in Stone, Taney, or Carroll Counties. After all, what's the chances 2 guys with the same last name show up in the area at about the same time, from Europe? Maybe they're Huguenot? Since I can't even get my folks to the shores of the Atlantic, I don't know a lot of European history yet...<S> Vonda
