This little-known database is available for free until 11/24 at http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4996.htm It is a listing of just the officers and sergeant instructors of the National Guard for all of the states and the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico in 1925, but it might be helpful in locating families around the time of the 1890 federal census, which for all practical purposes is not extant. Birth dates of these men range from 1862 through 1904, but about half of these soldiers were born between 1885 and 1895. Who knows, you might get lucky and find that missing link here.

    3. Diane, Just a note to let you know that while in Mo this past week, I check the probate records for the Taylors. I thought I would be able to clarify and sort out the Taylor mess, but I must say...no such luck. Our problem seems to be that either the court, or researchers have gotten the two Zebadee Taylor files confused, so information on both of the Zeb's are in one file. In other words, there is only One Zeb Taylor file which contains information on both families. Since I was traveling with my cousin , I was not able to spend a lot of time creating a time- line with the information in the file to help us sort it out. Hopefully we can keep working thru the Taylors , and perhaps we can eventually get to the bottom of the mess. I did find another Taylor to add to our mess and no way of knowing IF he connects to the other Taylors or not. It seems that no one knows where he came from either! To make matters worse, I am also related to .:{ So...just wanted to let you know that I didn't forget you...! The name is spelled wrong, Hendon, but I am sure it is my ggrandmother and her 11 children. The question becomes, where did they come from? Two doors down is John T. Sellers which must have been ggrandmother Mary's brother and when she became a widow at 38 with 11 children, she moved close to her brother. Does anyone out there in cyberland know anything about these two families. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Lou Ann Vogler saltcreek@att.net
