    3. I'm not sure really because cross hollow is a valley rather than a town. You can use the GNIS at the address below and actually see it on a map. http://www-nmd.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html Just type in the words cross hollow and select Missouri from the state list and it will find it for you. 1. [MOSTONE-L] Proctor Langley
    2. Cindy, I don't know but I find this strange. Your Luvisa married a Langley and I don't find a record of him, (course only have the 1860 census to go back to.) but here is a Proctor Langley in the 1870 census that shows to be a housekeeper. Pretty darn near the same age as what your Luvisa would have been. Oh well, probably reading more into it than what there actually is. :) Anyway, here is that report. 84 84 Cass Langley Proctor 56 Tenn Kp House Granvill 21 Mo Farm Lab Nancy E 20 Mo House Servant Mary E 13 Mo John F 3 Mo James 4mo Mo Warmest Smiles, Pama

    3. Pama, The story that I have been told is that John Langley went to California to look for gold. He wrote home that he had a strike and the family never heard from him again. It is told that Luvisa thought he had been killed by claimjumpers. So if their son was born in 1847 in Green Co. Mo he would have been aroung for the 1840 census but not necessarily for the 1850 census. I'm not sure exactly when they went to Stone Co. If he never came back, I guess the paper trail on him had ended. I don't have any record of a Proctor Langley but that doesn't mean that there isn't a connection. Thanks for all your help!
