Hello List, I am new to the list, so I don't know just what you want on the Families listed, but I have several of my family listed in your last posting of Lincoln twp. My parents, and two sets of Grandparents are listed there along with some brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts. I would be happy to contribute any thing that I can, just let me know what. Thanks for a great site. ,I'm searching for the descendants of James A. Johnston and Juliann Carr. James A. and sons Lluther and Leander are in the Stone County Census for many years........there is also a Silas johnston who along with Leander is still there in the 1920 Census. Can anyone tell me if there are decendants of these families istill in Stone County. Thanks so much. Nona Tonks
Nona, I have some information on the Johnston Family you mention. I believe there are still descendants living in Stone County but not sure which ones. I think that most of Leander Johnson line is deceased..altho I'm not positive. Hi Pat, Tried to send this to you off list, but couldn't. Would love to know if you know anything about Betsey DAVIS aka Elizabeth Ann DAVIS, that married Henry Proctor JENKINS. She was born abt. 1852 - Missouri. I believe Thomas Jefferson DAVIS to be her father. Would you happen to know this family? Thanks in advance! I assume your branch of the family moved to OR/WA because John Wesley had moved there with his children after the death of Pearly's sister Alice which caused his divorce from Mattie Crabtree. Mike - I agree to an extent with what you say. But ~ for those who enjoy transcribing old records, them being on microfilm is invaluable. Very few county courthouses, even with their records in the computer, have them available on line for researchers. It's still an issue of "in person" access, which obviously not everyone can do. If it wasn't for all of the work the LDS church did world wide to preserve old records in that manner, many of us would now be up the proverbial creek. Anyhow, will prowl the state archives to see if per chance it might be on film. I don't know, but if they haven't, surely they would not spend the money to microfilm it now. Once it is in a computer form (even just raster form like jpeg), going to microfilm would be a giant step backwards. So sad - they have so many of their records on the courthouse computer. And the people there are so helpful! Wonder if they have been microfilmed? Does anyone know? Elba, That is o.k. Do you have any idea who a person would write to that may have access to those records? Thank you for trying. That was very kind of you. Have a great Thanksgiving. To those of you who have asked me to look up divorces for you. I am sorry, but they are NOT in the Recorders office as I had hoped and thought they would be. They are in the basement of the Law Enforcement Center across the street from the courthouse. Thank you very much for all your effort to look up the divorce records, Elba. I really appreciate your trying. As a result of my request I received a message from another person who is researching the Stallions family. MoStone is a great way to find things. Pat Kracaw

Wow! John Wesley Stallions was my paternal grandmother's father! Mattie Crabtree was her step-mother for a time. I'd be interested in knowing more about their divorce decree also. I'd also be interested in knowing if my paternal grandfather's mother (Mary E. Philibert) ever actually divorced her husband, John (H) Mobley. It would have been around 1876. Recently I saw a listing that had my grandfather, Lemuel Henry Mobley and his elder brother, William Adolphus Mobley listed as either Horns, (Mary E. Philibert's first husband's name) or Philibert. My memory is bad, and I lost the info because of a harddrive crash. By the way; thanks to the person that put up the pics of the Stallions.
