    3. Hi: If you go into the Stone Co. web site there is Ernest Neill's Burial Records. Under Stone Co. obituaries is listed William (Billie) E. Hood and Shirley Paul Hood (thought that was strange). Maybe a copy of these would give you some help. 1. Joseph Columbus HOOD (1874-1950)
    2. I started entering some old data that I had forgotten about (my ancestor's siblings). I was working on Joseph (Joe) Columbus Hood b 2 Aug 1874 in Stone Co, MO and d. 31 Jan 1950 in the state penitentary in Jefferson City, MO for killing his (3rd?) wife Frances Maude McClain Keesey. I'm guessing her maiden name was McClain and her first husband was Keesey, but it's all a guess. She had 2 children by Joe Hood, Joseph Paul (b 1916) and William Eugene (b 1919). According to this undated file (from I don't know who anymore (shame on me!)), it said that Joe killed Maude in an argument over money sent home by his sons in the service in WWII. (Maude's DOD is 6 Dec 1943 and is buried in Crane Community Cemetery). I was wondering if there was a newspaper article about this. Also, I have Joe Columbus Hood m.1 to Hattie KISSEE (he is buried with her) and 2) to Bettie. I can find Joe Hood in the 1900 with Hattie on the Stone Co web page and 1910 census with wife Bettie (married only 10 months, 2nd marriage for both of them) but he is missing in both the 1920 and 1930 censuses (I tried on Ancestry.com too and couldn't get him to come up). If anyone has info on this line and wants to compare note, I'll share. Thanks, Cheri Mello Torrance, CA Researching: Duncan, Hembree, Hood, Jones, Logan, Pinkley, Rhodes

    3. Hi There Jim, I remember a Jimmy Dean, who's family lived on Rt. 13 between Elsey and Crane Mo. I think he had a brother or possibly his father was a Carl Dean. Are you part of that Clan. Fred Crabb (now in Ma, part time Sarasota area). The Jimmy that I knew would be about 70 years old now. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 12, 2004 8:40 AM Subject: Re: [MOSTONE-L] After 75 years, Union soldier can rest in peace _http://www.news-leader.com/today/1211-After75yea-248179.html_ (http://www.news-leader.com/today/1211-After75yea-248179.html<http://www.news-leader.com/today/1211-After75yea-248179.html>) Quote from the newspaper: the soldier's great-great-great-grandson — recognized the problem several years ago when he saw his ancestor's marker had a pointed Confederate top instead of a round Union one. ____________________________________ Another tell-tell sign on the "old" marker, other than a pointed top, that may have alerted family members, was the big "CSA" (Confederate States of America) inscribed above the birth date.
