Sounds like something my hubbys family may have done. Five boys, full of foolishness sometimes! I'll ask him later what they did when he lived down on White River & get back with a story or two. Must be some truth to it, I have heard the same story many times. It was called shooting the anvil. Probably went out of style with bulk black powder. Syd Carr

Hi: Got my 5 packages wrapped. A while back divorce records was the topic, I did some checking just never passed information on. Stone County did not keep divorces in a separate "book", they were just listed in the court records. So a person would have to look the index, maybe even the records, for a time frame they thought the divorce was in. I was told that a Helen Jennings might do research for pay. I have not been in contact with her. Could only find a number for a H. Jennings. Does anyone know her? The LDS have some Stone court records on film, guess a person could check them. Hope this helps Linda

Hi All: I only have 5 packages to wrap but have until 4:00 tonight (25th), just didn't want to rush wrapping. I have been looking into the Jones/Allen names. If you have Ancestry.com you can find what I am telling you about, if not email me and I will send you details. Working backward (I did not check 1910 and 1920 census) 1900 Census Stone Co., MO Lucinda Jones age 43 born AR George H. Jones age 14 born MO Stone Co., MO History found no index listing for a Lucinda Allen one listing G S D Jones page 562 William Nathan Owens b. 26 Feb 1877 Baxter, MO m. 27 Dec 1899 at the residence of George Simon Dillingham Jones, father of the bride, in Stone Co.,to Ida May Jones b. 7 Feb 1883 Baxter, MO. She was under the age of 18 and "GSDJones, father of Ida Jones hereby gives his written assent to said marriage." The marriage was officiated by P. M. Jones, Judge of the County Court. (this makes it look like GSD Jones died between 27 Dec. 1899 and the census date in 1900) 1880 census Stone Co., MO G.S.D. Jones age 53 born KY parents born VA Lucinda Jones age 24 born AR parents born TN (no children) Marriage G.S.D Jones to Lucinda Allen 21 Dec. 1876 Stone Co., MO 1876 Stone Co., MO census (on StoneWeb site by Joy Hobbs) TW 22 Lucinda Allen age 18-21 (no other Allen's in TW, not sure if she was living alone or with someone.) On Ancestry.com "OneWorldTree" Listed George Simon Jones. Gives George's parents, nothing on Lucinda Allen parents. Looks like 5 people gave information or 1 person put in information 5 times that they combined. I have to send a blind letter to the person. So didn't want to unless it would help someone. stopped looking for Jones information Lucinda Allen not much luck on her we have 3 birth years Stone said 1852 1900 age 43= 1857 1880 age 24= 1856 for 1870 census I only found two that I felt could fit. In order to put the "final touches" on your genealogical research, you've asked all of your closest relatives to provide DNA confirmation! Your house leans slightly toward the side where your genealogical records are stored. You decide to take a two-week break from your genealogy work, and the U.S. Postal Service immediately lays off 1500 employees. During an ice storm and power outage, you ignore the pleas of your shivering spouse and place your last quilt around the 1886 photograph of dear Uncle Augie. A magical genie appears and agrees to grant you any wish, and you ask that the 1890 census be restored. courtesy of the Furnas County (Nebraska) Genealogical Society. Up until the 1950's Lampe and Blue Eye some of the surrounding area was considered by most as Berryville, MO. Even today alot of the people still do there shopping and other business in Berryville, AR. One needs to understand, once your in them hills, you go to the closest place to do business, Berryville, AR. The fact that it was in AR and not MO, didn't matter to them, as long as they got what they needed done. My ggrandparents address was Berryville, MO for many years. It wasn't until after the lake went in that things started to change. For us this doesn't make sense maybe but consider Cassville is the county seat. From Lampe, Blue Eye and the Carr Lane area it's 40-50 mins good weather in a car. Imagine a horse and wagon making the trip. Mother tells me that even when she was young in the 40's they still took a wagon to town and town was Berryville, Eureka Springs. Her home was the exception but the norm. That's why so many records are in AR instead of MO. My family that still lives on the old home place nearly always goes to Berryville. Talked to Nelson Mortuary and they are the one's that handled the services but they only keep records back to 1930 and Lucinda Allen Jones died in 1927. Again thank you all for your help now I will be applying for his death certificate in AR. Pamela Linda Mulkey <[email protected]> wrote: Hi: In the McCullough Cem is listed a Mary M. Hi also, I am also researching Allens in the McCullough Cemetery area of Stone Co. My GG-grandmother, Martha Allen, married Garrett Moore (his second wife) on 21 Aug 1881 in Stone Co., MO. Together they had three children: Aaron Moore (b. 1882), Sarah Elizabeth Moore (b. 16 Jun 1887), and Joseph Henry Moore (b. 1887). I do not know the identify of her (Martha's) parents, although I suspect her father was Aaron. She apparently died about 1887. Perhaps Lucinda was her sister?
