    1. correction, correction, correction
    2. George Edmondson
    3. I stand corrected. The 1850 census of Scott Co. Arkansas does not report the Baltimore children were born in Stone County. I says they were born in Mo. I assumed it was Stone county because Nancy Baltimore my ggrandmother stated that she was born in Galena. From that I assumed Stone county. At any rate she was born in what is now Stone County. Am I correct? I guess from that I also assumed the other children were also born in Galena. After the war she returned to Galena with her new husband and had a child, Henry F. EDMONDSON. Thank you for your information. From now on I won't assume! Ancient Mariner.

    1. Those Mysterious Baltimores
    2. George Edmondson
    3. James Baltimore and his wife Lucinda Shumate lived in Stone County from 1835 when their oldest child was born until 1848, the birth of their youngest. How do I know? Because the 1850 census of Scott County Arkansas, lists James, Lucinda and their five children, stating the children were all born in Stone County Missouri. So at some time between 1848 and 1850 they moved to Scott County. How I have nothing official on them from Stone County. I don't know when they came to Stone County, or who their parents were. Not only that, but I have no record of them in Scott County after 1850. One of the children, my great grandmother, Nancy Elizabeth BALTIMORE, married Henry Edmondson on 19 January 1862 over in the Choctaw Nation. Henry then joined the Confederate forces (or was drafted), deserted and joined the 1st Arkansas Infantry, USA. The youngest child, William D. also enlisted in the 1st Arkansas, but what happened to the rest of the family??? So there you are. I don't know where the Baltimore's came from or where they went to. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate any suggestions. Ancient Mariner.

    2. Hello again! Doncha just love it when I get on a tear??? LOL I am seeking photo's of two particular homes that hold fond memories for me. Not sure who these homes belonged to but will go by what I was told. 1. Old house that sat on the James river down by Bear Den Cove. May have been the old Miller home. There was a cemetery on a hill just across the pasture. House had huge wrap around porch.Old Directions: Just across the OLD bridge at Cape Fair heading toward Reeds Spring. Turn right and follow the trail along the river for miles and miles...and wind down into a valley. I believe the house is under water now. but would love to have a photo of it. For some of you old timers, The Costlow brothers lived there before the lake went in. The brothers then moved up by the Selbys' store. 2. Old house up on the hill behind Cape Fair. Someone said it was the old Carney Place? Old Directions: Go up to the old Maud Costlow place (behind the store)on the hill at Cape Fair, crawl thru the fence and follow an old wagon trial up the mountain. It also had a huge front porch. Anyone recognize these two old homes? I would love to have photo's of these two old homes. Robin Don't forget to Vote!! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~biddle/settlers.htm

    1. Early Homes Of Stone County
    2. Dear List, Didja ever travel around the county and wonder who lived in that ol' ram shackled house standing out in the middle of the cow pasture? Ever get the urge to stop your car , crawl through the fence and wade through the weeds to take a closer look??? Ever go inside and wonder what their lives must have been like or try to imagine what the house looked like in its heyday?? Ever pass a set of steps in the middle of a pasture with the shadow of a chimney left standing and feel an overwhelming sadness of something lost forever? I do. And because of this Old Settlers now has a new page called Early Homes Of Stone County!! The purpose of this page is to capture the history of our old homes before they are lost forever. Please click on the link below to see Early Homes contributed by Paul Hancock!! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~biddle/homeindex.html Don't forget to Vote!! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~biddle/settlers.htm Robin
