Janet: I am no kin, but did some census checking. I could not find then un 1900 under any name combination I could think of. They must be another one of those missed. I am hunting a very specific thing right now, and I thought I would throw it out to you to see if anybody has any ideas. So maybe this is a lookup? W.Thomas Frieze was married to Maggie Underwood, and they had three boys. Maggie died in 1899 and W.T. married Cordelia Berry shortly thereafter. In the 1900 census, the two older boys, John and Columbus, are shown living in Stone County with Maggie's sister Martha White and her family. W.T., Cordelia and Leonard (abt. 14 yo) are not there. This family started out in Cedar County in the 1880 census, and lived in Stone thereafter. By the way, my undying thanks to the dedicated souls who transcribed all of the census materials for Stone County. Janet Southall

I found the following TAYLOR death on a Santa Barbara website. I have no idea who she might be. Just thought I would pass it along in case someone needs her. 5 Nov 1896 TAYLOR Margaret F. 48 5 17 F W Missouri Caucasian This is the URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Ecabf1905/Santa-Barbara/StaBarbCoIndx.htm
Just a quick note to mention that the new death certs database has proved so popular that wait time is 12 weeks...I am eagerly, but patiently, awaiting "her" death cert, which I hope will break down a BIG brick wall for me (Cloud-Norman). In the meantime I've been working on a Cedar Co. line (Friezes) and a Polk. Co., to Roane Co.,TN line (Underwoods) Janet Southall
Hello MOSTONERS, I'm happy to say that there are two new photos in the album of the Brown family. Our thanks to Nancy Brown for sharing them with us. The direct URLs to the photos are: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/photo/brown1.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostone/photo/brown2.htm Jo
I posted about my Yocums in the last post, but for me the Yocums are a "sideline" that I have not pursued. Sorry I can't help with that. I remember my "Uncle Jake" and my grandfather George B. Norman working on cars when I was little, in the 60s. I strongly associate the smell of dust, oil and cigars with them. If I am correct I believe he was not really an uncle, more of a second cousin. My Underwoods come in as gggmother Margaret (Maggie) Underwood (b.1859) who married W. Thomas Frieze. She died in 1899 after having three sons: Columbus J., John Walter, and Leonard Leroy. Leonard Leroy was my ggfather. He married Nellie Jane Berry and they had one dau., (my gmother) Addie Jewell, and three sons; Elzie Leroy, Eddie Clifford and Truman Woodrow. Of the three sons only Eddie had children that I know of, and they are still living. W.T. married Cordelia Berry (Nellie Jane's older sister) later in 1899 and had several more children. My current working theory is that Margaret was the dau. of Pleasant M. Underwood. I would love to know more about the Underwoods. Janet
Andrew, I have several different Yoachum/Yocum families. I just wish I could find if and how they may connect to each other. The county in parenthesis at the end of each one, denotes primary place of residence. First, is Peninah Yoachum who married Joseph Philibert. I pretty much know about her. I do, however have some differences with some of the data out there on her parentage. Some have Solomon, and some James as her father. I go with James, based on an interview Marvin Tong did with Littleberry Dotson in the 1950's, and the mention made of James in some of Schoolcrafts work. (Stone County) Second, there is a Joseph Yocum, born Dec. 1845, MO, who married Matilda Gibson. They had the following children: Margaret E., John Wesley, married a Bessie L., William D., George R., Charlie W, married a Minnie P., and Nancy J. who married an Ernest Taylor. (Stone County) Third, there is an Elizabeth Yoachum, b. abt 1815 KY,who married James Willis, Sept. 2,1860, Greene Co. MO. (Lawrence County) Fourth, there is a Theresa Fern Yocum, who married Ray Ivan Cruzan somewhere in SW MO, probably Jasper, McDonald, or any surrounding county. My great aunt was Nellie Ann Norman married to Doal Yocum. Their children were Jake, Doal Jr. (Red), Farrel and Mary. Because it is a "sideline," I've not pursued the Yocums back any farther yet. Nellie's parents were "Missouri" Caroline Cloud Norman and Joel B. Norman. I have been looking for M.C. for three years based on the marriage record that names her "Celia," but recently found her on the online deaths database! That was a great day! I am a grandchild of Nellie's brother, George B. Norman. Their other siblings were Edith S. Norman Barnes, Eva Norman Heath, Ruth Norman Crane, and Efton "Pete" Norman. I have never been to Galena, though I have heard stories about the old days there all my life. One of these days I will visit and have some places to put with the stories. Janet

In researching my Hardy line I've come across info about Ruth Fern HARDY Erny, born in 1896 in Mullen, Nebraska; then moved to Alden, New York with her husband and four sons. Fern died in Sister Hospital in Buffalo, New York in 1980. Her husband Francis "Frank" C. Erny, was born in Nebraska and died in 1971 in Galena, Missouri. Their sons were Ernest Norman, Harvey Dewain, Charles Walter, and LeRoy Henry. I'm looking for any info on this family. Francis died Monday, Nov 8, 1971 at Galena, Missouri, where he had lived for a number of years. I'm looking for more info about Frank - why was he in Galena? Were there other family members there? Did work take him there? What was the cause of death? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you, Kathleen in OKC
I don't know about the initials, but I don't think women were given guardianship of minor children (even their own). Normally, a male of the family or good friend was charged with the well being of the children. Joy/MO beatsme@netins.net I know there are a couple of CW buffs on the list that I'm sure will help with your questions. Tracy Shepard wrote: > Hello all, > I am so confused, nothing new. Just a guess, but could M.R. stand for medical record? Hello all, I am so confused, nothing new. I have located ggggrandfather David K. Shepherd in Civil War records online. On his records it states the usual items company, rank, enlisted date etc. At the bottom of card it has a remarks section that contains the following: M.R. April 30, 1862 died April 27, 1862 Tran. to 8th Regt. C. V. MSM Feb 4 1863. For starters what does MR stand for? And does anyone else think that its possible the death date and transfer date have gotten turned around somehow? I have also found probate records for guardianship of his son in Stone Co. in 1863, so this leads me to believe death was in 1863. Strange thing about this guardianship was given to A gent named William Kindle, who come to find out was the Captain of the homeguards David was enlisted in. The mother of this child was still alive at the time. Does anyone know if that was a common practice at that time? Any input anyone has is greatly appreciated. Thanks Tracy

Hello, My name is Martie Miller and I am related to the Fults of Reeds Spring. I think sometimes they spell it Fultz. Dutch Fults used to run a cannery there and he had a daughter Ernestine who married Teen Miller and had four daughters. Do any of you know the Fults. We have lost track of this branch of the family.
