I tentatively have Martin Bess? and Mary (Ellis)? as her parents, but I am not sure this is correct. An older relative told me her parents died young and that she was raised by other family members. She is listed living with a C.J. Ellis (widow & grandmother) born abt 1826 in Alabama. I'm assuming this is her maternal grandmother. I have no name for C.J.'s husband, and no full name for C.J.
