Friends, John A. (b. 1865), Ida M.(b. 1871), Virginia E. (Jennie) (b. 1874) and George A. CHRISTIAN (b. 1877) --all siblings--had a precious father, James CHRISTIAN, who served with distinction in the Civil War--being twice wounded from musketball in his 3 year tour of duty. Their mother was Elizabeth (Betty) SCISM-Christian. James died in 1908. Betty in 1880. Both are buried at N. Antioch Cem., N. Bloomfield, Stoddard Co., MO. I'd like to connect with any descendant of John, Ida, Jennie or George to exchange info. Would esp. like to discover if anyone has pictures of James Christian (&/or Betty) . After the War, James was, for a time, quartermaster in the G.A.R. post. This G.A.R. post was the Tom Walker Post # 379 which met at the Zion Methodist Episcopal Church, Stoddard Co. MO. Do pictures of the past quartermasters exist? Or any family member have his photo from his soldiering days? In the Company Descriptive Book of Company D, 10th Regimental Iowa Infantry appears this description of James: "Age 23 years; height 6 feet 1 inch. Complexion fair; Eyes blue; Hair dark; Where born Hocking (sic) Co. E. Tenn.; Occupation farmer." Please relatives & friends, help! Rev. Nathan R. Riley Orange, CA P.S. Ida is my great-grandmother.
