I am new to the list and looking for the following ancestors in Stoddard County. I think they resided in and around the town of Advance. I have a record downloaded from rootsweb called Letters of Adinistration which lists the death of : JAMES G.MARTINDALE DOCUMENT DATE 12 Jan 1876 listing wife : MINERVA E. MARTINDALE listing children: CHARLES MARTINDALE JOHN MARTINDALE administrator : WILLIS H. WHITWELL (father of wife) Is there anyone on the Stoddard list who has any info on the two children Charles and John? Any information will be greatly appreciated................... Names I am researching in Stoddard and Cape Girardeau counties. MURRAY - GIBBS - MARTINDALE - WHITWELL - CHASE P'POOL - ASHBY - FOSTER Jane Robinson
There apparently was more than one Martindale who died in that timeframe and left children completely orphaned... The 1870 census of Bollinger County Mo lists: Levi Martindale 22 Eva Martindale 23 Nancy Martindale 3 William Martindale 1 Then, by 1880, the family was fragmented: 1880 Census Information for Isaac Revelle: E.D. 59, St. Michael Township, Madison County, Missouri, House number 9/9, Page number 1 Names Rel. My best guess about why Nancy Martindale might have been taken in by Isaac Revelle has to do with the Eva (Revelle) Martindale part of the quote, and I don't know how that relationship plays out. Nancy Martindale married Bart Tripp. She is buried in Snowdenville Cemetery, Madison County, MO. 21-OCT-1866 19-MAY-1944 Here is another: 1880 Census Information for James Revelle: E.D. 8, Liberty Township, Bollinger County, Missouri, House number 199/199, Page number 21 Names Rel. What all of these Martindales were dying of I can't really say. One thing that I do know is that these Revelles were either blood relatives, or just very nice people. =) Some Cemetery info: Cruse Cemetery, Stoddard County: James G. Martindale d 22 DEC 1875 aged 41 yrs, 1 Month 5 days John H. Martindale d 5 SEP 1876 aged 10 months, 5 days, son of J.G. and M.E. (Source: Cemeteries of Stoddard County, 1992) Minerva E. Martindale Married Josephus Tilley 16 feb 1877 Bollinger County, MO (probably widow of J. G.) Well, I hope some of this fits the outline you were working with, but either way, good luck in your search! On Mon, 30 Oct 2000, J.
