Henry is on the Stoddard Co. 1870 census with wife Martha. I am trying to prove that this is Martha Dowdy, daughter of Lewis H. Dowdy. In 1868 Henry married Martha A. Ballard (Dowdy Ballard?) The children of Martha and Henry C. Harris are named as heirs of Lewis H. Dowdy. There is also a Henry C. Harris with wife Louisa living in the county at that time. Please contact me if you have any information about these families.

Years ago I heard where the Dowdy's were related to the Watson and Johnson family from Sikeston area. If this is true I might be able to let you know something about one Martha My grandma maiden name was Hunt. First married William Dill--One daughter born --her name was Bertha---Then married John Watson which is my grandpa--They had one son my dad Robert--- I don't know how the Dowdy was related. May have been my great great grandma maiden name. Thanks for any help you may have.
