I have been researching the Benwell's in mid Missouri and mid Illinois for years. I recently acquired a death certificate from a John Benwell aka John Link (this is what his death certificate says). His father is listed as Sylvester Link and his mother as Mary Dodge. It says he was born April 9, 1902 in Bloomfield Missouri and he died in 1948 at the age of 46 from tuberculosis in a sanitorium in East St. Louis Illinois. I was cannot find this John in the census's under Benwell or Link. There is a John Link in Stoddard County I can find, but he lived into the 1980's.
