I'll excuse myself for breaking in on this train of thought and research --however, what Stoddard County book are you referring too? I'm interested in tracking my grandfather's time in Stoddard County and possibly his relatives. I need a bit more information on time frames before I can ask specifics so have been trying to get a general feel for what was going on in Stoddard County ca. 1892 through 1900. {Bland and Babb both being names of interest to me} Wilma Bland -----Original Message----- To: mostodda@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [STODDARD, MO] Justice of the Peace files Dan, According to the Stoddard County book, David Jackson Aslin and John B. Hi Wilma, Stoddard County has a book entitled Stoddard county Missouri 1835-1985. You might try and call the Dexter, Mo. Library and possibility can order it for about $25.00. It has a lot of info on the area. There is a genealogy researcher a Mr. M.A. Hart who was very helpful to me when I started out searching for my family. I believe you can reach him thru the library. On page 113 there is a paragraph that says Pearl E. Jones b 7-20-1883 d July 1971 Bloomfield, Mo. mar. 1st. P. Eugene Jenkins , issue Payton Jenkins who married Mary ? , Kenton, Tenn. Second she married W.E. (Bud) Elmore, merchant, Bloomfield, Mo. issue one daughter Mildred Elmore married Herbert Bland and had one son Hadley Bland, Dexter, Mo. & Berkeley, Calif. she died in 1961. Also on page 77 there is a reference to a John Luther Barham and his wife Minnie Babb. Had only 1 child a daughter now Mrs. Lillian Reynolds (George)of Rt. 3 Bloomfield. There is one other paragraph. I don't know anything about the Babb family, but the Barham family is huge and I am related to the Barhams. There are many researchers on the Barhams and they have actually been traced back to 1215 signers of the Magna Carta. One of the first Barhams arrived in Jamestown in 1653. Captain Charles Barham. Hopes that helps.
