Francis Babb, son of William M. Babb and Temperance Shipman was born ca 1831 in Cape Girardeau Co. (probably the part that is now Stoddard County). Francis married Nancy Adaline Cline ca 1849 in Stoddard Co. and in the 1850 census they have a son William. I am unable to find them in the 1860 census. Anyhow, according the Stoddard Grays book, Francis joined as a private in Company B of the 4th MO Cavalry CSA and was reported on 1 Oct 1863 that he had been absent sick since Nov 1862. I presume he died between then and 23 Jan 1870 when Nancy married Sheriff White. The war service shows that Francis was alive in 1860 so I should be able to find a census record. So, my question is, "Where were Francis and Nancy Babb in 1860?"

My gg grandmother was Elizabeth Babb Tankersley daughter of William M. Babb and Temperance Shipman. There was also a Philip Babb born ca 1800 living in Stoddard County. Apparently they both had sons named Andrew Jackson Babb and they lived next to each other so it is difficult to untangle the families. Some of the items on WorldConnect seem to mix them together. We know from Phillip's will that he had a son Andrew who was named as his administrator in 1871. However when the will was probated in 1875 Andrew had died. There was a Jackson Babb living two doors from Phillip in 1850. He had a wife named Rhoda. They were in New Madrid Co. at the 1870 census and had sons Thomas and Washington. In 1880, Rhoda is a widow Rhoda Conover living with son Wash Babb. So, this Andrew Jackson seems to be the son of Phillip. One census says Andrew was born in MO but two others say Tennessee which is where Phillip came from. In 1850, another, 18 year old Andrew J. Babb, born in MO, is living with the family of Daniel and Narcissa (Babb) Bland in Cedar County MO. Andrew has wife Eliza and 1 year old daughter Mary. In 1860 both Andrew and Eliza are gone and 11 year old Mary and 7 year old Martha are still living with the Blands in Cedar Co. MO. Daniel Bland and Narcissa Babb were married in Perry Co. IL 16 Jan 1834. Who is this Narcissa? What is her relationship to Andrew? Next, we have Andrew Jackson "A J" Babb married Lucy A. M. Long 22 May 1864 in Madison Co. IL and Andrew died there in 1867. Lucy took her children Joseph David Babb and Sarah D. M. Babb and went to Dallas Co. MO near Buffalo where William M. Babb and Temperance Shipman's son David Walden Babb was living. So, I would say this is the son of William M. Is this the same Andrew who was in Cedar Co. in 1850? Is Narcissa another child of William M. Babb. It is in many records now that William's middle name was Matthew. Is there any proof of that? His mother was Sarah Morrow. Couldn't he have been named for her father? Ted Stout

Hello Can anyone tell me where Sarah Etta Weaver is buried. I don't have her exact dates but was told she died in late 1940's or early 1950's. Besides weaver, she was married to a George Selby. Her maiden name was Cox. Your help is very much appreciated. esell904@peoplepc.com ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com

I saw you post and was wondering if you by chance have a connection to the Kinney family of Dexter, Stoddard Co, MO or the Bilbrey family who lived in Puxico, Stoddard Co., MO many years ago? My grandmother was a Bilbrey and my grandfather was a Kinney. Ruth Kinney Townsley

Her parents were John Henry Hale born 1860 in Jefferson Co., IL and Eva Jane Redman born abt. 1886 in Bell City, Stoddard Co., MO. Eva Jane was the d/o John Redman born 1854 IL, and Belzora/Belsora "Belle" Sanders abt. 1861 Stoddard Co., MO. Eva Jane shows up on the Stoddard Co., MO in 1880 as 2 years old. I believe she might have told a story about her age to my family. After all, if wasn't "nice" to ask a lady her age back then. I knew my g/grandma Eva, she died in 1960. John Redman had a brother, George Redman who married Belle Sanders sister, Sarah V. Sanders in Stoddard Co., MO. John and George were born in Carbondale, Jackson Co., IL. I think their father and mother were Caleb Redman born abt. 1820/25, NC and Rachel UKN. I also think Sarah V. and Belle's mother was Sarah "Polly" McKinney before she married Joseph Sanders. Her husband, Joseph Sanders died and she married Frederick Shrum in Stoddard Co., MO. 1850 census. I found Caleb Redman living in a Shrum h/h in (Stoddard Co?) MO 1850 census, 1860 he is living in Carbondale, IL with wife Rachel, sons John and George, and dau. Lucinda. 1870 Caleb still in Carbondale with wife, Rachel, sons John, George, and dau. Lucinda. John and George living in Stoddard Co., MO 1880 census, both married to the above Sanders, Sarah V. and Belle. 1880 no census found for Caleb, Rachel, or Lucinda. Also, Caleb Redman was in the Civil War, enlisted in IL. John Henry Hale s/o of James Henry Massey Hale, s/o John Henry Hale (they all lived in Southern IL). The Hale family came out of TN and moved to IL. My g/m always told me she had Sanders, Redmans, and McKinneys in her ancestry. She died in 1999 at the age of 97 with a SUPER SHARP memory. I wish I had asked her for more information. I think the Sanders, Redmans, Hales, and Shrums all (or most) had all lived in Southern IL and migrated to MO. Do you have this family in your files? If you need more info. I can supply dates, etc. I typed all this from memory, so I hope I got the dates correct. Thanks so much, Claudette (Ricketts) Pfingston claud@sigecom.net

I have info on a Gene Beene of Fisk, Mo. None on the church affiliation you mention. RAH
Good morning, Does anyone on this county list know how I might contact family or descendants of Gene Beene (who was the clerk of Old Bethel Church, west of Dexter, Mo., in 1960)? Would appreciate any help. Robert
