3. Lisa, You have been so helpful to many on this list. I wonder if you would look up one person for me? My great-grandfather died in Bloomfield on 20 Dec. 1907, and I have not been able to locate his burial place. I found his obit in a Cape Girardeau newspaper, but there was no mention of where he was to be buried. I have been looking for his burial place for about 7 years. In case you have the time at some point, he was Miles Augustus McClard, called Gus. Alternate spellings for his surname are McLard and McLaird. His 2nd wife, Amanda Hill McLaird, died in 1924 at the home of a daughter in Hayti, Missouri, and is buried there. I know this is asking a lot from you, and understand if you cannot look it up. Thank you. Dee in SC

My grandfathers brother William Wesley told us that his mother died enroute to Stoddard Co and that his dad was buried around Bernie and that he had a tombstone. I hope this helps someone and I would love to Wilma, I was also told to look for Manning along with Black and Summers. This is beginning to look more interesting all of the time. I will look through my files on what I have found on my Stoddard Co., Blacks and send you that information. Thank you so much for your information. I only wish I had been more actively interested in all of this while my parents were alive. Please, keep in touch. 3. Jim, I forgot to mention that the locations of the cemeteries and Directions are in the book I have. The Stoddard County Historical Society does all of that and they are also the ones who puts the * to let people know how the headstone reads. Me my self I think the book is worth it's money, because these people do alot of research and put it into this book. 2. My Preston Black was the son of Jacob Black and Rebecca Mifflin of Montgomery Co Tn, they were there in 1850, they moved to Calloway Co Ky where Rebecca dau of Preston and Mary Ann Moon) was born and on to Johnson Co Ill by 1860, also 1870 Preston remarried a Rebecca Summers in Pope County, I have been able to find Preston after that marriage, Rebecca Sr. was alone with Children on the 1870 Johnson Co Ill census. James Wesley Summers b ca1834 in Bedford Co Tn and are on the 1850 Massac Co Census, the last time I found him was when daughter Mary Elizabeth married John R. Manning in 1898 at fathers residence in Massac County. My grandfathers brother William Wesley told us that his mother died enroute to Stoddard Co and that his dad was buried around Bernie and that he had a tombstone. I hope this helps someone and I would love to know more about My Preston Black. I have most of his ancestors but not his descendants. 2. Thank you for responding so quickly Wilma. I found where my James M. Black and Sarah Conway married in Whiteside Co., IL. Where in IL were your family from? I have been looking for some time and have run across many members of the Black family. As far as being able to verify they were my family the above James M. and Sarah Conway Black are as far back as I can go where I found that they married. Their daughter Emma Adaline (Black) Kinney, Majors was my great grandmother. Emma A. was married to William Greene Kinney then to Thomas Majors, after the death of Wm. G. Kinney. I look forward to hearing from you again. Ruth

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone.
