Dee, I have looked in the book I have for Miles Augustus "Gus" McClard. He is not in it. I looked under the different spellings of the name. Sorry that I can not help you. You mentioned that his wife was burried in Hayti, Missouri. Have you tried looking for him there also? Good Luck with your search on this person. Sincerely, Lisa Groesbeck thedustyrose1@sbcglobal.net Dee <deeken@ftc-i.net> wrote: Lisa, You have been so helpful to many on this list. I wonder if you would look up one person for me? My great-grandfather died in Bloomfield on 20 Dec. 1907, and I have not been able to locate his burial place. I found his obit in a Cape Girardeau newspaper, but there was no mention of where he was to be buried. I have been looking for his burial place for about 7 years. In case you have the time at some point, he was Miles Augustus McClard, called Gus. Alternate spellings for his surname are McLard and McLaird. His 2nd wife, Amanda Hill McLaird, died in 1924 at the home of a daughter in Hayti, Missouri, and is buried there. I know this is asking a lot from you, and understand if you cannot look it up. Thank you. My own dad,Paul Austin WALLACE, served the Bell City Methodist Church in the early 1940s. It was on a circuit with,I believe, 2 other churches. My mom's name was Mildred. Their first child, Ruth Elaine, was a newborn (born July 1941) when dad was first appointed to the charge. The second child,Barbara Suzanne, was born in May, 1943, while the family was living in Bell City. Both children were born in Cape Girardeau. Both parents were Stoddard Co. natives; dad of Puxico, mom of Dexter. Dad was a s/o Dillie (HAWKS) WALLACE and James T. WALLACE, gr/son of Edward L. HAWKS and Samantha Bell (LOONEY)HAWKS; g-gr/son of Fielding T. HAWKS and his wife Amanda Martha (OVERFELT) HAWKS and John F. LOONEY and his wife Alpha Jane (SEWELL) LOONEY. Mom was the d/o Thomas Ambrose STEWART and Iona Pearl (SUTTON) STEWART, gr/d of Charles Madison SUTTON and Elizabeth (HAMLETT) SUTTON; and g-gr/d of Hugh HAMLETT and Rebecca (GALBRAITH) HAMLETT. Numerous stories of "Bell City days" have come down through the years in our family. I was born in 1945, after the young family made a life-altering move to Dallas, TX, for dad to attend seminary. We remained in Texas, returning to S.E. MO and Stoddard Co. for annual visits. Our parents always enjoyed visiting back with friends at Bell City! We have lots of treasured pictures of those "Bell City days". Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
