Nancy is a sister to Cardinal Stewart. I have been reading with interest the posting on Tom & Leatha Stewart, amd James & Delia Stewart. (Sons of Cardinal Stewart & Martha E. Cookston.) I found a marriage record for Delia Hutchins to John Wilfong 26 Apr 1885 in Stoddard County, MO. This maybe the same Delia. I will check the Stoddard Co., MO website to see if there is a probate record for John Wilfong. Do you have any idea who Louisa, daughter in law listed in Cardinal's household in 1900 might be? I thought she might be the wife of Thomas A. Stewart but if he was married to Letha and they are buried in AR. this must be wrong! I found a posting that listed her as Louisa/Lusinda Johnson. I found that 1900 census. Then I found one that blew my mind. A 1900 cesus from Arkansas it has some names missed spelled but it has James Stewart with Dealy Mae ( I think this should be Dalia) and her sons with the last name as Stewart and a Leathy 9 years old. Tom married her (leatha) around 1904 so she was only 13 or 14 years old and he was around 31 that is a little weird. This says that Leathy, William, John are his step children. So He was first her step father then bacame her brother in law. She died in 1934. My mother in law took care of her when she was real sick until she died. I have not got hardly anthing on Tom's mom and dad or other family. I have gotten stuff off of the census and off others family tree's. Boy old Cardinal and Martha had a house full in 1900 I guess with that many kids some of them would come back home even back in those days like they do now. She married Bill Yenks(I am not too sure of the spelling) I knew her and her children many years ago. Her mother died when she was very young. She is living with Cardinal and Martha in the 1900 census. Also a Louisa, daughter-in-law and a granddaughter Hattie. I have never discovered who Louisa and Hattie are. Also on the 1900 census it states Martha has born 12 children with 8 living. On a nearby cemetery there are 2 small children with birth dates that fit in spaces in the 8 living. Another brick wall. Lemuel died without a will. He left 16 children that lived to maturity, mentioned in the court records. As a kid, I seem to remember hearing that he fathered 18 children. I suppose it would be unusual at that time to raise 18 without at least 2 dying as small children. The word I have was all had the same mother. The only name I have for the mother is Mary Amanda. Cardinal, Tom's father, received 1/16th. In Cardinal's will he owned 2/16ths, so he must have either bought a sibling's parcel or maybe it was also left to him. I have never been able to search that out. I understand the court papers of Lemuels are at the county seat at Bloomfield, Mo. So that would make her old enough to be her mother. Demetra passed away several years ago in California. She divorced her first husband and remarried. My husband says she and her first husband where married until their boys where grown and then divorced. My husband has no information on the Stewart side until I started to look for them. He has never seen a pic of Thomas or Leatha. Do u know if there is any museum in Stoddard county that may have some information on the family? We live not that far from Stoddard and I would really like to find some pictures. Thanks and I am going to try to find out if Leatha and Delia where mother and daughter. I let u know what I find out.
