    3. Lois We may have talked about the Layton family since my great grandmother had an aunt Barbara Kirby who married James H. Layton. Nancy appears with her husband Francis M. Babb in the 1850 census. Their son William is living with them. I have not been able to find them in 1860. Francis was in Company B, 4th MO Cav CSA and was reported out sick in Nov 1862. I believe the children listed with William Whitehead and Nancy in the 1870 census are her Babb children even thought their surname is not listed. This is because they were married in January 1870 and William did not have any children named James or Mary in the 1860 census record. I think her son Stephen P. Babb is the 19 year old living with the Roby family in 1880. I have Nancy's name as Nancy Adaline Cline but have not been able to verify that. I have been trying to find out if Francis M. Babb died in the War. He was a son of William M. Babb and Temperance Shipman. 3. My gg grandfather was John A. Bland married Rachel Loucks 1843. Rachel was the daughter of David Loucks and his first wife, Lydia Babb. I'm not certain of the dates there. Rachel was born 1826. My grandfather was Marion E. Bland m. Ettie R. Hampleman and according to some sources was born in Stoddard County although I have no idea where. Also know that Marion and Ettie were living in Stoddard County ca. 1897. Curious as to if there were Bland connections or any idea as to Lydia Babb's family. As I said, interested in the area but very shallow on enough details to do much tracking at this point. -----Original Message----- From: mostodda-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:mostodda-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Ted Stout Sent: Saturday, July 21, 2007 4:32 AM To: mostodda@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [STODDARD, MO] Justice of the Peace files Wilma My gg grandmother was Elizabeth Babb daughter of William Babb and Temperance Shipman. 3. Hi Wilma, Stoddard County has a book entitled Stoddard county Missouri 1835-1985. You might try and call the Dexter, Mo. Library and possibility can order it for about $25.00. It has a lot of info on the area. There is a genealogy researcher a Mr. M.A. Hart who was very helpful to me when I started out searching for my family. I believe you can reach him thru the library. On page 113 there is a paragraph that says Pearl E. Jones b 7-20-1883 d July 1971 Bloomfield, Mo. mar. 1st. P. Eugene Jenkins , issue Payton Jenkins who married Mary ? , Kenton, Tenn. Second she married W.E. (Bud) Elmore, merchant, Bloomfield, Mo. issue one daughter Mildred Elmore married Herbert Bland and had one son Hadley Bland, Dexter, Mo. & Berkeley, Calif. she died in 1961. Also on page 77 there is a reference to a John Luther Barham and his wife Minnie Babb. Had only 1 child a daughter now Mrs. Lillian Reynolds (George)of Rt. 3 Bloomfield. There is one other paragraph. I don't know anything about the Babb family, but the Barham family is huge and I am related to the Barhams. There are many researchers on the Barhams and they have actually been traced back to 1215 signers of the Magna Carta. One of the first Barhams arrived in Jamestown in 1653. Captain Charles Barham. Hopes that helps. 3. Jim John B. Aslin married a second wife, Martha Ann Alsup, Moore, Kirby. Martha was about the third wife of my gg grandfather James Alfred Kirby. Around the time James died, Martha gave birth to my great grandmother's half-brother William Right Kirby who was named after his grandfather Wright Kirby so we called him uncle Wright. Even though he was my grandmother's uncle, he wasn't much older than her. So it gets sort of mixed up doesn't it. John and Anna Henson are living with son Joseph, daughter Gertrude, her husband John Galliher, and their children Cletis Galliher and Jessie Galliher. By 1910, John Henson and his son Joseph are in Saline County, Illinois, with John listed as widowed. Earlier, John W. Henson is listed on the 1860 census for Saline County, Illinois, living with his wife Ann (also Anna or Annie) Smith Henson, their daughter Mariah C. (Mary?) and her mother Catherine Smith. They are still there in 1880 with additional children Alice, George, Walter, Gertrude, Joseph, and John. Also in the 1880 household is their married daughter Mary and son-in-law Chaplain Musy (perhaps Joseph C. Massey according to marriage index?) and two grandchildren George and Charles Musy. I recently found this family listed as heirs to the estate of John Smith in Hamilton County, IL. I would like to connect with anyone looking for this family, as Anna Smith Henson is a sister to TWO of my ggg grandfathers.
