Visiting Kinfolks Like a lot of young people I moved away after school In search of adventure And to make my way in the world I go home for a visit From time to time To catch up on what's happening And find out who's still alive On a recent trip back We went to see those that are gone to pay respects to their memories And chech out the stones There were grandparents there From both sides And that's my old aunt and uncle Lying side by side I was the tour guid Because I know all their names Some had stories that I remembered That I told in their place We found one stone With the dates all wrong It had someone buried Before they were born Now that fellow over there Used to be our neighbor He'd tell me stories all day But he was afraid of labor I helped dig this grave Me, and some friends got together Back when people helped each other No matter what the weather It's easy visiting these kinfolks Because they're all in one place I'll keep them living in my memories With a smile and tears on my face

Hello, I have just joined the list in hopes of someone being able to help locate some ancestors who I believe died in Piketon, Stoddard Co., MO. Does someone out there have any directories for cemeteries in or around Piketon? I am looking for Mary Jane Sandy Gardner, last known to be alive on the 1880 census living in Piketon but having dropsy. She very likely was dead by 1889. Also looking for her younger sister Sarah Sandy who made the trip from IL to MO in 1874 but was dead by 1884. Any help appreciated. Judee

I'm looking for my family Samuel A. DICKEY. He was living in Stoddard County in 1920. I was wondering if anyone might look up to see if he died in that county for me. Dickey was 53 years old on the 1920 Census born in IL Typhenis (wife) 52 born in IL Otto son 22 born in IL Stella daughter 14 born in IL next family down from them are THOMPSON, Robert A. 34 years old born in AR Carrie 29 (Carrie is Samuel and Typhenis daughter) b. IL Raymond R. 7 born in Missouri PLEASE if anyone find any info on my family PLEASE get in touch with me. Samuel and Typhenis had a son name Earl DICKEY and he is my grandfather. I can't find my grandfather anywhere since 1920. I don't know where he went after he divorce my grandmother. They were living in Dudley in 1920 in Stoddard County. My mother was born 3 Jan 1921 in Dudley, Duck Creek, Stoddard County. I have my mothers birth cert. and all it tells me that her fathers name was Earl DICKEY and he was 20 years old at the time of her birth and he was born in IL. This is all I have on him. PLEASE I'M BEGGING FOR HELP TO FIND GRANDPA DICKEY. I'm planing a visit to Missouri at the end of June but was hoping I could find him before I arrived. I trying to beat my sisters to find Grandpa Earl DICKEY before they do. Looking for info re: the ancestry of my gg grandfather, George Washington BRYANT, b. 8 Sept 1840 somewhere in GA. By 1850, he was in Union Co., IL, with his mother Nancy (b. @ 1795 SC) and his siblings Joseph, Mary Ann, Lewis, Emaline, and Catherine. His sister married Theophilus TURNER 1853 in Union Co. They lived in Williamson and White Cos., in IL. George Washington BRYANT served in the 15th Inf. from Alexander Co., IL, in the Civil War. He married 1.) Mary JAMES and in 1871 2) Rebecca E. VANWINKLE in Alexander Co, IL. He moved to Stoddard Co., MO, by 1880, and he died there on 15 Sept 1908. His son William Marion BRYANT, b. 1882, was my great grandfather. Hi Listers, First of all I would like to thank everyone and Melba in particular for all the wonderful information about my SHERRY surname. I haven't found out about the school yet, but I think I may have found my orphaned great grandfather's family. There was a reference to the Bernie Banner in the information I received. Was the Bernie Banner a newspaper? If so, did it post death notices? I'm pretty sure right now the Dr. Richard Sherry was my ggrandfather's father. >From the information I was given he died January 28, 1894. His wife Huldah J. died in October of 1898. If anyone can do a lookup for me it would be greatly appreciated. I am very interested in Stoddard County's History and any biographical books.
