    3. I'm forwarding thi query that was sent to me privately - I seem to be living at my job right now and can't get any research done - Melba, anybody? Got anything on these people for this woman? Becca --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Date: Sun, 30 Apr 2000 10:20:50 EDT Subject: Stoddard Co.,MO Volunteer Look Up Message-ID: <[email protected]> Dear Rebecca, I am trying to find death and burial info for Francis and Rachel Inman Millstead. They lived in Advance, Stoddard County, MO at the time their last child was born in 1886. Two of Francis and Rachel's children were living with other relatives in 1900. One was Nettie Millstead who was living with my ggrandfather and family in Adair Co.,Mo and the other was James "Oscar" Millstead who was living with Rachel's sister and family in Logan Co.,OK. Another researcher thinks Francis and Rachel maybe buried somewhere in Stoddard, Co.,MO. I was also told that Francis died in 1890. Francis and Rachel may have died during a small pox epidemic. ANY info on this couple would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Pam ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! 3. Posted on: Stoddard Co. Mo Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Stoddard?read=74 Surname: LAVENDER, RHOADES ------------------------- James LAVENDER arrived in Stoddard Co. about 1835 from VA. He was married to Elizabeth (from NC) and to them were born: Henry W., Jesse H., Susan E., Missouri Ann, Susannah, and Elizabeth Jane (my g-g-grandmother). All the children were born in MO. They left for Texas about 1855. Elizabeth married Thomas Jefferson RHOADES, son of James E. and Susan RHOADES, who were from TN and KY and who had come to the county about the same time as the LAVENDERS. They also left the state and traveled to Texas with the LAVENDERS.

    3. Posted on: Stoddard Co. Mo Queries Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Stoddard?read=72 Surname: Boyer, Gillis, Black, Ezell ------------------------- I have a copy of the SS Application for Tennie Elizabeth Boyer and she lists her father as Henry Boyer and her mother as Elizabeth Boyer. The Raniey Funeral Home reference states that Tennie's father was listed as R. L. Boyer. I have email correspondence with DeWanda Smith, the granddaughter of Effie Boyer. In her research she has the SS Application for Ida Boyer who married Harvest Christian and Ida lists her father as Henry Boyer and no name for her mother who died at child birth in 1888. Final, I have located on the Stoddard Co. 1880 census William Boyer, his wife Martha, and children including Andy, who Meryl Taylor identified as Tennie's brother. I can not find any reference to a Henry Boyer on this census. Also I have been unable to locate Henry Boyer on the 1900 census. The marriage license for Tennie and Ben Gillis states they were married at Mr. Bower, I assume residence. Could you help in any way to get information that will clear up the different events? Thanks for your response Charlie Harris Birmingham, AL

    1. [MOSTODDA-L] Bluff Hill Cemetery
    2. I am trying to get information on people that were buried in the Bluff Hill Cemetery in Stoddard Co. Does anyone know if there is an office for this cemetery? Is there a specific funeral home that might have handled funerals in this cemetery in 1948 and 1970. I am trying to get more information on Thomas Kidd who died 1-24-1948 and his wife Julia A Hickson Kidd who died 11-16-1970. I mailed off for a request for Thomas Kidd's death certificate to the State of MO, and they didn't have one. Thought I might try a funeral home, but don't know which ones were in existence in 1948. I would appreciate any or all the help someone can provide. Thomas and Julia were both students of the School for the Death in Stoddard Co. We are assuming they married soon after they left the school in 1889. A marriage record may provide the info on his parents or where he was born. If someone would want reimbursement for this research, I will do so. Thanks for your help Elaine Kidd O'Leary in CT

    1. [MOSTODDA-L] NARA proposal
    2. Mary Hudson
    3. The NARA proposal to revamp the system and fees for providing copies of Military Service Records, Bounty-Land Warrant Applications Files, and Pension Application Files has been published in the 25 April 2000 issue of the Federal Register. Public comment is invited and should be directed to NARA Regulation Comment Desk 8601 Adelphi Road College Park, MD 20740-6001 Fax: 301 713-7270 The comment period closes on 26 June 2000. NARA prefers that you use either the postal address or fax number to submit our comments rather than e-mail. A complete copy of the Federal Register notice is available from the NARA Web site at http://www.nara.gov/nara/fees-pro.html. The proposed Reproduction Fee Schedule covers a number of items, but the Military Service Records, and the Pension and Bounty-Land Warrants are of the greatest concern to genealogists. NARA proposes three major changes: 1. The NATF Form 80 would be discontinued, to be replaced by two new forms: NATF Form 85 to request both Bounty-Land Warrant application files and Pension files (more than 75 years old), and NATF From 86 to request Military Service Records (more than 75 years old). 2. For all three types of files, NARA would no longer send a selection of pages, but would send the complete file. This would eliminate the two-step process currently used and should be beneficial to most genealogists. 3. The fees for all three types of files would be raised. For Military Service Records the new fee would be $17.00, regardless of the number of pages included in the file. For Bounty-land Warrants the fee would be $17.25, again without regard to the number of pages. For Pension Files the fee would be $40.00, regardless of the number of pages. Finally, the proposal would go into effect on 1 September 2000, if approved. Many genealogists may consider the proposed fees to be excessive. NARA specifically invites comment on the proposed fee schedule. The FGS/NGS Records Preservation and Access Committee urges everyone who wants to comment to carefully read the full proposal before submitting comments. The proposed fees are intended to cover the actual cost of locating, copying and mailing the records, plus 10% as authorized by law, and are based on the average size of the files. NARA states that the average for Military Service Records and Bounty-land Applications is somewhere under 20 pages, while the average for full Pension Files is 105 pages. The FGS/NGS Records Preservation and Access Committee will be looking at the NARA proposal carefully, and will submit comments as appropriate. Individuals who would like to provide input to the Committee's evaluation are welcome to do so but are also encouraged to comment direct to NARA at the address given above. Comments for Committee consideration should be e-mailed to [email protected], or mailed to Federation of Genealogical Societies, Attention: RPAC, PO Box 200940, Austin, TX 78720-0940. In order for the Records Preservation and Access Committee to adequately evaluate such input it must be received by 26 May 2000. The deadline for comment to NARA, however, is still 26 June 2000. Posting of this message to other mail lists is encouraged. A copy of this message will also be available on the Records Preservation and Access page of the FGS Web site <http://www.fgs.org/fgs-recordsnews.htm> and on the NGS Web site <http://www.ngsgenealogy.org> **** ==== MOGEN Mailing List ==== Your new board cc reps (9/99-8/00): Barbara Dore [email protected] Gloria Mayfield [email protected] ============================== The RootsWeb WorldConnect Project: Tens of millions of individuals... and counting. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ Mary Agnes Hudson [email protected] CC for MOGenWeb, Butler, Mississippi and Stoddard in MO. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobutle2/index.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~momissis/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~mostodd2/index.html
