Hello list, I was wondering whether Melba or anyone else out there has any info. on my great uncle & family. William H. TROUT (or TROUTT) supposedly lived in or near Dexter most of his married life. I have unconfirmed dates for birth and death: 27 Jan, 1863 - 12 Nov, 1940. I believe that Wm. had 7 children: Floyd (b.jan 19, 1906), Delia, Amanda, Bessie, Josephine, Mable, and Frances; however, I have no birth, marriage, or death dates for any of them, except Floyd. I think that Bessie married a LEWIS, Delia a SMOTHERMAN, and Amanda a SCHALL. Wm's parents were Joseph Marion TROUT and Amanda Elizabeth (ARNOLD) TROUT. They lived near the county line between Williamson and Saline Counties in Illinois. I do not know William's wife's name nor the date/place of marriage. I would appreciate any help you can offer. William H. was a brother to my grandfather, Richard Albert TROUTT (1868-1927). Thanks, Bill Troutt Katy, TX
I am looking for information on a Cambell widow living in Stoddard Co. New Lisbon area., in the 1880 census. She is listed as S J Cambell, 48 widow. living with a Hattie, james and nancy (her children). I assume her husband died and is buried somewhere around there. does anyone have access to cemetery records, who would lookup the husband, Cambell born abt 1830 died before 1880 census? I know this is vague-- but, it is all I have. I'm pretty sure my great great grandparents James and Lucinda Inman moved over there to help the widow out. I believe she is the mother of Lucinda Inman. I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks Earlene

Does anyone have any information on a Jasper Newton VANCAMP (possibly VAN CAMP, two words)? He had a son named Harvey VAN CAMP, born in April, 1894, in Dexter (Stoddard Co), MO. Harvey VAN CAMP's mother was Emma WALKER, born approximately 1861 in Missouri. I have not yet been able to find documentation on a marriage for Jasper Newton and Emma VAN CAMP; however, I do know that Emma was married previously to a man named Clement A. (Alonzo?) KITCHEN, in 1882. That marriage also took place in Stoddard Co. She allegedly had two sons from this previous marriage, named Clem (Clement?) KITCHEN and Curtis KITCHEN. I do not have any information on these boys. Harvey VAN CAMP married Luretta/Loretta Irene TRABAND on January 11, 1947, and the couple resided in the area of Lebanon (St. Clair Co), IL, for the remainder of their lives. If anyone has any connections or information about these individuals, please contact me. Thanks, Joan -- Email: [email protected]

----- Original Message ----- From: Joyce Reece <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2000 10:54 PM Subject: [MO] migrations > There are a bunch of us folks back here in Tennessee who have a question. You see, there are several of us who have had ancestors who left here in the 1840's, 1850's & 1860's for your state. Would there be a particular reason why? Like land being made available or statehood? Something like that. Still trying to locate information about John Lee DAVIS and his young bride, Elizabeth ("Lizzie") Irene WALKER, who married sometime between 1910 and 1914. I do not know the exact location of their marriage, as they both had family in the areas where Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, and Illinois meet. Lizzie WALKER's grandfather (Jesse C. WALKER) owned a lot of land in the southeastern area -- the "bootheel" -- of Missouri, including Stoddard, Butler, and Iron Counties. He also owned land in Randolph Co, AR, and Clay Co, AR. Elizabeth Irene WALKER was born in 1895 in Greenway (Clay Co), AR. Her husband, John Lee DAVIS, was born around 1886/1887 in Tennessee, although conflicting references have stated Kentucky on occasion. They were my grandparents. John and Elizabeth Irene ("Lizzie") had five children together before his death: (dau) Ethel Virginia DAVIS, b 1914, Cairo (Alexander Co), IL (son) Lucion Lee DAVIS, b 1916, Ridgely (Lake Co), TN (son) John Pershing DAVIS, b 1918, Bonne Terre (St Francois Co), MO (son) Milfred Marion DAVIS, b 1921, Ridgely (Lake Co), TN (dau) Sidney Aileen DAVIS, b 1924, Cairo (Alexander Co), IL John Lee DAVIS actually died in 1923, about six months before the birth of his last daughter (Sidney Aileen DAVIS). I've been trying to find this information on John DAVIS and Lizzie WALKER for some time now -- they were my grandparents. I found Lizzie and her father listed in the 1910 census for Butler Co, MO. I know they moved around a lot as her father (widower) was a day laborer and she worked as a servant. *Somewhere* between 1910 and 1914 she met her "handsome young man" (as she referred to him in a letter written many years later) and they married. Elizabeth ("Lizzie") Irene WALKER's father was Sidney J. WALKER. I found his death record in 1920 in Cairo (Alexander Co), IL. That's where Lizzie's first child was born, so hoping there are other "footprints" they left? If anyone has any leads or information on these folks, I will be thrilled. Thanks, Joan -- Email: [email protected]
