We have had the good fortune to be handed a "good" photograph taken in 1893 of the group of loggers in Butler County These men could have been some of the first to have come into this area to work the early timber era, of Butler County. I spoke with Mr.. A. Christy, a couple of years ago. about this era of history. I wonder if the Mr.. Frank Christy here might be the his ancestor http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobutle2/history/bc-loggers.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobutle2/history/bc-history.htm The photograph is large and will take a bit to open. I have the list of names above the photo, so you can see who you might find in the photograph. This was submitted only today and I am still checking with the person who sent it on the names. I may be missing a name, or it could be one which was unreadable, But we are working on it. Enjoy the photograph, if you have family with any of the following names. James Green, John _----den, James Dorsett, Chas Hargrove?, William Macom?, R.W. Hi, I have been looking for Philip Savage in Stoddard County. There are many families with the name McGhee and Fields. I haven't yet completed looking yet. It would however, be helpful if you could provide me with some first names of the families you're looking for. (I am also looking for the Buck, Jamerson and McClellans) It would make the search go faster as my copy is not indexed. >From another list, You might like to check the copies of 1883 Missouri Pensioneers being placed online at URL: http://www.homestead.com/aahala/missouri.html All counties are not yet included, but he is adding them as completed. Most are Civil War veterans, but lists for some counties include War of 1812 widows! Mo Queries Board URL: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Stoddard?read=96 Surname: PERRY, ASLIN, CHASTEEN ------------------------- I'm looking for info on the PERRY/ASLIN/CHASTEEN families of Stoddard County from 1860 on. First showing of the Perry name in the county was in the 1860 Stoddard census: John C Perry 43 NC Thena (Parthenia)35 NC William M(arvin?) 15 NC Lucetta? 10 NC Sowell J 8 TN* Sarah J 6 TN (no name) 2 MO. George D (in 1860 census) 6 MO Anyone know what county in NC or TN these Perrys came from? They intermarried with the Aslins in Stoddard. In 1874, John C took guardianship of the minor heirs of a Charles Perry. The children's names were Alexander, Jesse and Charles. Could Charles Sr have been a brother to John C? John C died about 1879 and in 188? his son William took guardianship over the children, although I've never seen their names show up on Stoddard census. Any ideas where those children may have gone? *Sowell Jesse Perry is my husband's great grandfather. He married 1st, Louisa Lewis in 1874 and by 1880 they were divorced with 2 children, William born ca 1875 and Mary born ca 1877. Sowell married 2nd, Nancy Chasteen (widow of William Glass)in 1883 and then about 1895, they moved to TX. Am desperately seeking info on these lines and will happily share what I know. Thanks! Becky

Their father was a John Savage who died in Hamilton Co. IL in 1886. I may have other family members who moved there, but have not been able to locate them. Related families would be Buck, Jamerson, McGhee, Fields, maybe some McClellans. Does this sound worth following up?
