Hello, I am in the process of going through my great-uncle's collection of really old family photos, some of them of the William and Josie BAY family of Meramec, MO. This is a completely new area of Missouri for me, as well as a complete new family. They were a step-grandparents (if there's such a thing) to my Grandma. I am hoping to find some living descendants to pass these wonderful photos on to. They were in Meramec, MO in the 1900 census: (and from the number of even older portraits from St. Louis area photographers, the family was in Missouri for several decades - but I have no clue at all who his father or mother is) William (Wm) L. Bay; b. Mar 1862 in MO d. 1952, Fresno, CA Josephine; b. Aug 1854 in IN {this was not her first marriage} d. 1944 in the Los Angeles area And sons: James (b Mar 1890, MO - d. 24 Oct 1962, Fresno, CA) And: Guy (b Aug 1895, MO) The family moved to Oregon by 1910 In 1920, the oldest step/half brother from Josie's first marriage and the William Bay family are both living in Fresno County, California. Wm & Josie move to Covina by 1930, and are there for some time. She passes away there, he is back in Fresno to pass away in 1952. Their son James is a veteran, presumably during WWI - although I don't have those details, he passed away in the VA hospital in Fresno in 1962. He was living with them in the 1930 census, and my Aunt remembers that he lived with them every time she was taken as a child to visit "Grandma and Grandpa Bay" I believe that James was married because a post card is addressed to them Mr. & Mrs, a note from (someone) addresses them as Aunt and Uncle. Another correspondence makes reference to Mr. James Bay Sr. Which makes a good case for a Jr. Somewhere/somewhen. But Veteran's Hospital correspondence about his autopsy was sent to his half-brother, not a son or daughter. What resources exist that will help me find more about the Bay family and William's parents in Missouri? I'm still working on my California sources to find more information about the son which I know came to CA. Thank you! Deb Christensen
